Stellar. A touch of that pretty Chinon violet flower and manure funk. St. Emilion-like concentration but this isn’t inky or extracted in the least. Luxurious, satin-like texture and tannins, with a subtly sweet finish. Feels a bit higher alcohol and less acid than some of the more classic Chinon vintages, but on the basis of the massive concentration and nascent complexity this will develop very well. Young but already approachable. — 4 days ago
As you'll see from other reviews, this isn't for everyone. It's funky and smells baked. But I dig the unique, complex flavor profile: dried cherries, black and red currants, pencil shavings, herbs, and cedar. Almost like an acidic, Loire rendition of a Bordeaux. Yes, there is a slight effervescence, but it doesn't ruin the wine. — 2 days ago
Off the charts Cab Franc. When two great wine shops meet and share gems! Doesn’t get much better than this. Classic Chinon with age! — 11 days ago
Jammy with lots of giving fruit, white pepper, and natural qualities. — a month ago
a little funky loire Cabernet franc.
unoaked (concrete ageing)
medium coarse but pleasant tannins.
smoke, bits of dirt with small rock parts in it, black plum and some dried 🌶️.
a great surprise but not for everyone.
