Anam Cara

Nicholas Estate Vineyard Riesling 2019

Words “Anam Cara” are Celtic for “friend of my soul.” Nick and Sheila have made wines since planting grapes in 2001. Pale lemon with aromatic aromas of ripe tropical, stone & citrus fruits. On the palate tart apple and melon flavors, with a crisp citrus tang. Medium+ finish, vivid acidity with rich ending. Drinking well now. Nice value. — 4 days ago

Sestina Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2015

Mostly red fruits on the nose: cranberry, red cherry, with white pepper, licorice and a bit of cedar and soil. Medium ruby in color. Dry, medium + acidity, high alcohol, full bodied, palate of red to black fruit: blackberries emerge with vanilla bean. Medium tannins. Alcohol is a bit hot, but finish is long... albeit a little jammy for my taste. This is a very good wine that will get somewhat better over a couple of years.

The Walls Vineyards

Curiositas Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Not quite sure what Jeb was thinking when he gave this a 97. It's good but not nearly at that level! Needs some age to resolve some of the tannins. Opened up after an hour of air. Hold. — 7 days ago

😳 we’re comparing this and the Spring Mtn cab tonight. Can definitely see the similarities in the fruit, but this is more complex, balanced, and refined for sure. — 18 hours ago

Reserve Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

My #FridayCabernetfix

Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.

Fruity nose of blackberries, sweet plums, blueberries, violets, black currants, cedar, earth, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, alcohol, peppercorn and coffee.

Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, plums, cherries, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, tobacco, chocolates, light vegetables, mocha, peppercorn, leather and earth.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is another great Napa Cabernet. Well balanced and a little subdued, yet still showing Napa Cabernet characteristics. Not too extracted, which is nice to see.

This is from a great vintage, but still needs a few more years to become its own, although delicious now. A good sipping to share with friends.

Teeth staining color, so not a good choice for a first date.

Good by itself or with food. Good right out of the bottle, but definitely better after a couple of hours of airtime.

Thank you Barry for sharing.

This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was aged in 85% New French oak barrels for 22 months.

14.2% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

Colene Clemens Vineyards

Estate Dopp Creek Pinot Noir 2015

Moderately extracted, purple red in color. Cherry and slightly smoky barrel tar aromas, cherry-berry flavors. More fruit, less barrel please. Good acid, slightly hot, slightly buttery, smoky finish, light skin astringency. Tasty, but for the first jour, at least, not my preferred style of Oregon Pinot. Umami-soy sauce and blackberry flavors emerge after an hour; nice complexity if you have the patience to wait for it. — 18 days ago

En Mag - this is my second time around and celebrated a deal closing - as in 2017 this wine delivered - amazingly it is getting better - this is from a single vineyard at 2000 feet on Howell - this is full bodied mid palette sweet tannins with a rich nose long legs black currant berries and and I think it is getting better - ten plus years left - dark purplish color - I LOVE It and made a nice splash last night — 10 days ago
