Chateau Latour Martillac

Louis Latour

Pouilly-Fuissé Chardonnay 2022

All of the grapes from the vineyards owned by the Latour family are vinified and aged in the cuverie of Château Corton Grancey in Aloxe-Corton. The winery was the first purpose-built cuverie in France and remains the oldest still-functioning. Medium pale lemon color with aromas of stone fruits with a slight nutty floral character. On the palate flavors of peach and melon with lemon citrus and savory notes. Medium+ finish, lively acidity, ending with fruit, toasty oak and minerality. Nice! — 3 days ago

Beaulieu Vineyard

Private Reserve Georges de Latour Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1980

Decant for sediment(lots of fine/cloudy sediment) and pour. A majestic tawny dark red color. On the nose: sweet port like with dried plum/cherry, herbaceous, rich soil, mushroom, pepper. Taste: Amazing! juicy, refined, balanced, savory wine with dried cherry, black raspberry, earth, tobacco, mint, and a nice mocha baking spice medium plus finish. YUM! Still delivering at 44 years, and glad to have a few more bottles. — 15 days ago

Château Latour

Les Forts de Latour Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1979

1979 vintage. Above average fill with a fully saturated cork. Used a Durand but corkscrew segment wouldn't insert to the hilt. Cork kept spinning. Got 3/4's the way in before deploying the ah-so segment. Able to remove the cork in two acts. Decanted with gigantic sed. Super lean but with staying power. LFDL consistently rates as one of the best (if not THE best) 2nd label in BDX. 1979 wasn't the best vintage but the pedigree is unimpeachable and this carries along a zippy, spice box component. Should have another 5-6 years at this level. 7.6.24. — 2 months ago

I really should start with the Durand on any old bottle but for some reason forget and use it to salvage

@Norman Gennaro I use it on pretty much any bottle over a decade old. Safe > sorry.

Louis Latour

Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2022

Bright ruby color. Aromas of black cherry, black currant and wet soil. The palate is full of black fruit, kirsch, black licorice and baking spices. Note of earthy dried mushrooms on the finish. Medium bodied and well balanced acidity. No sign of oak aging. Solid. Thanks for opening this one, Keith S! — 6 days ago
