La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2021

Great second wine here. Yes probably too young but with 2 hours in the decanter this was singing. In another couple of years 94. Super wine — 23 days ago

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (47%), Merlot (47%) and Cabernet Franc (6%). Dark ruby color with a few purple highlights. Savory aromas of burnt wood, asphalt, black fruit, smoky oak and purple flowers. Flavors of cooked blue and black berries, espresso, mushrooms, cassis and oolong tea. Long and smoky finish. Nicely balanced and extremely concentrated. Smooth tannins but still quite the powerhouse. Heading past its prime but still extremely drinkable. Thank you for sharing this incredible wine, Kasey and Pete. — a month ago

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou

La Croix Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

Ming L
9.2

Sourced largely from dedicated parcels and younger vines in a frost-challenged year, it opens with red currant, graphite, and cedar, layered with subtle floral and savory notes. The palate is full bodied and precise, with polished tannins, fresh acidity, and restrained oak.

More akin to Clos du Marquis to Leoville Las Cases in spirit than declassified Grand Vin, this is a well priced Cuvée from Ducru.

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Cru Classe des Graves Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

1990 vintage. Top shoulder fill. Nearly completely saturated cork. Durand used to open. Not decanted. Tasted 2 hours after opening. Light-medium body. WOTD just barely over the 1990 Château Margaux. More of a LMHB than Margaux fan so we'll call it a draw. Beautiful star anise nose and flavor component evident. Based on this sample, this could easily roll another 5-6 years before downshifting. 11.21.25. — 2 months ago

@Paul T HB that 1990 Montrose ain't no love song/ballad. It's still Norwegian death metal. Steer clear of that bad boy if you want a smooth anni celebration. One of the few aged wines I've ever had that prompts a "I should probably floss" thought process.

I appreciate it. It’s not really a celebration but a personal day to remember my wife who I lost last year unexpectedly. But I will not stop my 1990 bottle search’s

La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou

Saint Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2022

Blend of 66% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot, deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits, floral spice and smoky tobacco notes, aged 12 months in 80% new barrels. On the palate flavors of blackberry and black cherry with cacao, tobacco, licorice and cigar spice. Fine chewy tannins, well balanced on long finish, ending with fruit, cedar, tobacco and earthy mineral character. Very nice, will age well but needs time in the bottle to really enjoy! — a month ago
