Estate had prior succession problems & split into 2 with original Clos L'Eglise (Rouchut family) on one side and Clos L'Eglise-Clinet (Mauléon family)on the other. Clos L'Eglise has a wine-producing tradition spread over several centuries. A blend of 80% Merlot & 20% Cab Franc, 100% new oak, wonderful warm aromas of fruit & spice. Cherry & Strawberry flavors, with notes of cinnamon & nice energetic mouthfeel. Firm tight tannins that are beginning to open but should continue to age well. Put on Must Try list — 4 years ago
Better than most people say..! — 6 years ago
This did more than hold its own in a 1966 tasting that included Haut Brion and l’Eglise Clinet. Beautiful wine, very elegant. — 3 years ago

2 hour decant(little fine sediment). A beguiling inky purplish magenta color. On the nose: beautiful notes of red berries, charred embers, truffles, sweet spice, oak. Taste: smooth, dry, full body wine with black cherry/raspberry, mocha, cedar, spice, graphite and a long finish with no hint of the 14.5 alc. Got more in the cellar, wish I bought more...better score to come in a few more years. — 3 months ago
