Cave des Vignerons de Mancey

Brut Réserve Crémant de Bourgogne Chardonnay

Bread dough, lemon, with savory notes in the after nose. A lemon rind, high acid finish. Well structured and complex at a great price point. — 9 days ago

Cave Dog

Sonoma Valley Godello 2019

Medium weight, dry and acid forward, long, lingering finish. No noticeable oak, low ABV, built for washing down anything Mediterranean...anything that swims...anything scratching that garlic, olive oil, and citrus itch. Hay, tart citrus, olive, saline...godello is that true unicorn...white wine that can both swim all by itself and still play well with others. — a month ago

Cave des Vins de Sancerre

Les Marennes Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Oh lovely. Soft subtle Sauvignon, peachy and herby. Waitrose £10 (normally £17) so not a normal purchase. A birthday treat. — 9 days ago

La Cave du Vin Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle

Valée d'Aosta Prié Blanc 2013

Alder Yarrow

Sticking with the “great wines from grapes you’ve never heard of” theme for a while longer, why not join me for a sip of this alpine gem. Grown in the northerly reaches of Italy’s Valle d’Aosta, just over the border with France and Switzerland, and in some of Europe’s highest altitude vineyards (1200 meters) this wine is made from the Prié Blanc grape. Prié Blanc is the region’s only indigenous white grape, and is rarely found within the Valle d’Aosta, let alone outside of it. Vibrating with mineral intensity, the wine tastes of green apple, lemon cucumber, dried honey, and a hint of herbs. Electric acidity and a sort of peach-pit tanginess linger in the finish. Because the region is mostly tiny growers, Cave Mont Blanc is a cooperative, and a very high-quality one at that. — 11 hours ago
