Popped and poured; enjoyed with Wednesday night dinner of leftover ragu and tagliatelle. The 2008 Pertimali BdM, pours a deep ruby color with a nearly opaque, turbid core progressing out to a more orangish color with a watery rim. Medium+ viscosity with very light staining of the tears and signs of fine sediment (hence the turbidity). On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe and desiccated cherry, curaçao, black tea, leather, porchini, Italian herbs, dusty earth, and spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannins and medium+ acid. The tannins are completely integrated at this point. Full-bodied. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and satisfying; and a sublime accompaniment to our meal. The 2008 is in a really great place right now (if you appreciate mature wines) and should maintain for at least a few years. Drink by 2028.

The nose starts off with gentle and persistent dried herbs, leather, incense, and light barnyard. After about an hour decant, beautiful bright yet ripe fruits emerge. The palate is luscious and seamless with fresh acidic spin. Silky tannins lead to a lingering finish.
Drinking beautifully now. No need to wait. — a day ago
Nice acidity, totally worked for thanksgiving turkey and all those unctuous sides — 9 days ago
Held this for 5yrs. Easily could have waited another 5+. Gave it a day of air and while delicious still a lot to unpack in this bottle. — 18 days ago
2015 vintage.
Dark crimson red.
Plums, cherry, tobacco and leather aromas.
Bing cherries, cassis, mushrooms, orange peel, clove and toasted spice.
Polished tannins and bright acidity.
This wine paired very well with Matsutake Okonomiyaki. — 19 days ago
This is really nice
Salt first. Big tart wine with some subtle subtle flavors. Some minty basil. Some spicy clove. Some funk. Tannins linger.
But not complex. A big enjoyable Tuscan.
I like it a lot…. But the world would probably even rate it higher than me. — 16 hours ago
Please note: this is a review of the Costello, Romitorio Brunello di Montalcino *Reserva*, vintage 2015. I’m pretty sure this is a different wine than listed in the Delectable app.
2015 opened October 2023. Raw leather and raspberries on the nose. Pomegranate fruit on the front. Medium tannic structure that’s tightly closed with a lot of minerality. Long finish that’s tart but fades into a warm honey feeling on the back of the throat. This is a lovely wine that’s both challenging and satisfying. — 16 days ago

Mid Ruby/garnet in colour. Earthy aromas - freshly tilled earth, red cherry, plum skins, menthol, leather and liquorice. The medium weight palate shows savoury cherry, spice and liquorice with fine persistent tannins. Drinking at its peak but will stay at this level for another 5 plus years. A brilliant match with pappardelle pasta, lamb, fresh basil and Parmesan (thanks Georgie). This wine was a treat, from an excellent year for Brunello - wish I had a few more bottles. — 13 days ago
