On a hot almost-summer night this wine hits the spot! ☀️
It’s a Sauvignon Blanc from the Valle de Casablanca D.O. in Chile 🇨🇱 where the vines from which it hails receive cooling influences from the Pacific Ocean breezes, lending balance and preserving acidity. 🌊
It’s no wonder this wine is labeled EQ as in Equilibrio (the Spanish word for balance), because it offers a wonderful balance of ripe tropical fruit aromas and flavors with vibrant acidity and notable minerality. 🍍 🥭
The aromas and flavors are fresh, albeit ripe, generally tropical with passion fruit, guava, mango, underripe pineapple, also green apple, gooseberry, freshly cut grass, and wet slate.
It’s a perfect patio pairing and fun to explore the beauty of new world Sauvignon Blanc from this region.
It’s also a great value at $12.99. 👏👏👏👏👏
Matetic Vineyards, E.Q., Coastal Sauvignon Blanc, D.O. Valle de Casablanca, Viñedo Valle Hermoso, Chile. Vintage 2019. ABV 13.5%.

A really great SB! Blend of 96% Sauv Blanc & 4% Sauv Gris adding an interesting dynamic to the wine & distinctive aromas (prior vintages added some Semillon) Pale lemon color, citrus, tropical & floral aromas. On the palate peach, melon, herb & earthy tones, well balanced with acidity, smooth yet robust on a long finish ending rich with wet stone character. Good value! A Fav!! Tried several times, very consistent!! — 8 days ago
An old friend, whom I am ecstatic to find again. Basically a Burgundy estate that was exiled from Chablis & is part of Côte d’Auxerre. Concentrated green fruits, lithe, delicate & powerful all at once. The balance is remarkable-I can’t imagine a better QPR. Polaner importer. — 6 days ago
Tonight the wine of choice is the 2018 Long Meadow Ranch Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc.
On the nose I am getting honeydew melon, mango, white peach, green apple and white flowers.
On the palate there is succulent notes of grapefruit, lime, green apple, minerals and fresh-cut green grass.
This wine is medium bodied with a crisp clean mouthfeel, mouthwatering medium+ acidity that moves nicely into a long citrusy finish. With the world seemingly opening back up from its long year and a half slumber, please continue to be safe and healthy and be kind to one another. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂 — 2 days ago
Green fruit esthers, quince, pear, chalky minerals, on the nose. Lots of pretty green and yellow fruit on the open knit palate, with pleasant bit of contrasting bitterness and sweetness on the finish, and enough acid to carry the bubbles. This is great, planning to hold a few bottles for 5-10 years.
Incidentally, handily beat the Lassaigne side by side, at a third the price. — 6 days ago
Classic Pouilly. What a time to be in Paris! Sitting on the balcony of my AirBNB enjoying the sounds of the Marais. Today restaurant, cafés and museum restrictions begin to ease. That alone is making this wine taste good. I’ll add tasting notes tomorrow, when my palate isn’t clouded by the shear weight of the moment. — 5 days ago
The wine of choice tonight I have opened is the 2019 Jean-Max Roger Cuvée Marnes et Caillottes Sancerre. From the Loire Valley Bué, France.
On the nose there is lime, grapefruit, melon, hawthorn, flint and minerality.
On the palate is lime, gooseberry, grapefruit, lemon, smokey flint and minerality.
This wine is light to medium bodied with a fresh clean mouthfeel, medium + to high acidity with a long citrus mineral finish. I hooe everyone has had a wonderful weekend? With the week ahead lets all stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂 — 8 days ago
Here's a pretty Loire SB, very mineral driven, chalky, PF / Sancerre like, with a smoky edge and nice verve on the finish. Nice fruit / acid balance here, with just enough ripeness in the latter, with a lime / passionfruit / tart green apple character. Just excellent and another ringer from the great value regions of the upper Loire - though not for long. — 22 days ago
Very confectionary nose. So so good. Just so aromatic. Cotton candy, minerals, herbs and spice. Palate is classy and elegant with tremendous purity and juiciness. Round yet energetic and superb minerality and freshness throughout. Dazzlingly pure. Terrific depth. Finishes very mineral. — 3 days ago
Really like this Wine, tasted 6 months ago, aging great. Pale lemon with ripe white fruits and wet stone aromas. On the palate ripe apple & peach, very complex, lively acidity. Long finish ending with mineral and sweet honey character. should continue to age, but great now! When I get a bottle I just can’t leave it in the cellar!! — 10 days ago
