Grange Bin 95 Shiraz 2004

Grange. That is all. Well, ok - so complex and spicy on the nose, needs a lot of air. Grange is such one of the greats, always a privilege. — 12 days ago

Villa Maria

Private Bin Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Nose: pear and star fruit and citrus. Instant mouth-water. Pale yellow color with a tinge of barely visible green. Taste is wonderful, perfectly acidic with a tropical taste and a clean finish. Yes, please. — a month ago

@Ron R Seriously! I don't think I've ever had a NZ Sauvignon Blanc that I didn't adore.

Bin 5532 Vintage Port 1978

These old Vintage Ports from the likes of Lindemans live forever. Rancio spirity aromas with dried fruit raisin notes. A thick mouthfeel - goes to all corners - of profound intensity. Notes of cough medicine which is not unusual. Will still be going strong in a decade or two. — 20 days ago

James Halliday

Hunter River Traminer Riesling 1979

Actually a cleanskin of the Lindemans bin 5687 Traminer Riesling and I am not sure if the Riesling was instead a semillon at that stage.
The wine was absolutely past its peak, but had some freshness and a long after taste.
Bought on auction from James Halliday' cellar collection.
1979 was a great vintage in Hunter Valley
Surely happy I tried, but not the greatest.

After 4 hrs I go back on the remaining half btl of the wine which was left unattended on the kitchen bench with a random cork inserted since its own obviously crumbed at the opening.
Well, don't ask me, but the wine has opened up aromas earlier hidden of white chocolate, macadamia, hay, ginger, apricot jam, a bountiful of flowers, lemon grass, English breakfast tea and so much more. Not so sweet at all and very enjoyable now. Definitely something I might not be able to experience again perhaps.

@Ceccherini Cristiano Great experimentation Cec. There would be some hidden gems in Halliday’s huge cellar.

@Bob McDonald I feel like I will pour some in the sink😄😄, but the good ones are going to be unforgettable. I did get some old whites from the Hunter that might be fireworks...or not😅

Bin 389 South Australia Cabernet Shiraz 2017

Sumptuous! Sourced from different vineyards and aged just right in American oak, this polished gem is all Cab on the nose. The Shiraz comes out midway through: dark fruit and Earl Grey tea. A vanilla-chocolate swirl envelopes the finish. A smooth criminal, this one... — 9 days ago

Big and rich. Great chalky nose. Nice complexity. Both styles represented, but more new world than old IMO. — a month ago
