Always a delight. A good back up to the hard-to-find “bunny wine” — 7 years ago
It surprised me. It’s got a tropical herbaceous thing. Like the tropical cocktail with just enough herb garnish to cut through whatever juice is in it. And bone dry. Do I have a metaphor for this...let’s see it is a movie that’s starts as a chick flick and then has a deep message but then still has a happy slightly cliché ending, and you’re okay with it. It’s the 13 Going on 30 of Chenins. Hop on hop in like the bunny on the bottle. — 7 years ago
Nice South African wine dinner Wednesday at Angelo’s Cabarita on Sydney Harbour
Eight wines served with typical South African food so pairings were important as food can be quite spicy (Kingfish Crudo, Peri Peri Chicken, Bunny Chow Lamb Curry, Boerewors, Rib Eye and Malta Pudding)
The 2019 Kanonkop Paul Sauer Bordeaux blend from Magnum was excellent as was 2021 Meerlust Bordeaux blend as well as the 2017 Kanonkop Pinotage from Magnum. Also interesting was 2007 cold fermented Nederberg Edelkeur with the pud.
Great night.

Substitute for my favorite bunny wine. Very good but heavier and didn’t have the same funk. Opened a bit funky but mellowed quickly and significantly. — 6 years ago
Funky skin contact. Orange creamsicle honey and sweet blossom. “My Pet-nat brings all the boys to the yard”. Brought us love at Roses. — 7 years ago

Poured into a decanter maybe an hour prior to service. The 1970 Tondonia Gran Reserva pours a garnet color with a transparent core, moving towards a slightly orange rim. Medium viscosity with light staining of the tears and some signs of fine sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous and absolutely brilliant with a mix of desiccated and ripe fruits: dried Morello and Montmorency cherry, cocoa powder, mushrooms, old leather bound books, an entire cabinet full of dried herbs and spices, a memory of barnyard and a deciduous forest floor. On the palate, the wine is dry with good structure still: medium tannin (fully integrated) and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and makes me believe there is something bigger than us in this life. This bottle, on this afternoon, gives the confidence to embrace the mystery. Drink now with an hour of air but I get the sense this is one of those Energizer Bunny wines… — a year ago

Lampin with the Easter bunny. — 6 years ago
Thank you @Daryl Calhoun for sharing this badass 2011 with me! Another incredible example of how 11 was a forgotten vintage!
I think all it needed was a little time and this was a phenomenal example.Badass in a glass. Balance, balance blue fruit And a finish which the energizer bunny would be proud of!!
Outstanding my friend! I hope this post finds you well. I haven’t heard from you in quite some time! 👏👏👏🙌 — 8 years ago

Shhhhh. Holy Saturday, Batman!!! Easter bunny drinks rosé! Perfect libation for plastic egg prep. Nice balance between sweetness and acidity in the mouth. The finish shows fresh fruit and great length. — a year ago
