Krug is always most welcome, and Valentine’s Day is no exception. This is edition 169. A bit more yeasty and slightly less acidic than previous versions, to my taste. But if you like the Krug style - which we do very much - it hits the spot per usual.
My wife used to work with Fritz Hatton, proprietor of Arietta wines and auctioneer for Zachys. Fritz always says to have a half bottle of champagne waiting in the fridge in case you need a “midnight snack”, and I have to agree with him! — 4 years ago
Fantastic and super well balanced. Drinking really well. — 3 months ago
Opened at the last minute after a corked dolcetto. Odd coming off of a corked Ridge Pinot from last night too. Bad luck weekend.
This was nice. No one would mistake it for old world - it has too much roundness for that. But it’s nice and aromatic on the nose with great fruit that really carries through. A nice one from the fine folks at Arietta. Great pairing with chicken thighs marinated in soy and hoisin, miso broccoli, and coconut rice. — a year ago
Nice wine but probably would had tasted better a few years ago. Tasted side by side with Arietta Merlot. — 5 years ago

Last had this a couple years ago. Now really coming into its own. Oak has integrated nicely to where it’s just a structural element. Really nice deep fruit. Just enough acid to keep it together. Nice one. — a month ago
