Jordan Vineyard & Winery

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Founded 1972, Tom & Sally Jordan, from CO, went to CA’s wine country & produced inaugural vintage in 1976. A Fav of mine with a steak, and the ‘16 is Wow big! Blend of mostly Cab Sauv with Merlot, Petit Verdot & Malbec. Deep Ruby with aromas of red fruit & pepper spice. On the palate flavors of ripe cherry, blackberry and fig with oak, sweet spice, leather & cacao notes. Rich tannins, well balanced and integrated with fruit & oak. Very Nice! — 2 years ago

Incredible. Held up amazingly well after 16 years. Brisket or Mac&Cheese. Still aromatic. Solid. No awkward tannins and smooth finish. — 4 years ago

Spotted this 100-year co-op bottling front the great 16’ vintage for only $25, and could not resist to pick up one.
Stewed black and blue berries, black currant, ripe raspberry, dry herbs, hint of cured meat and leather on the nose. Medium body. The candied red fruits on the the palate feels a bit syrupy to me. The medium acidity leaning towards sour.
Predominately Grenache. Great price for a CdP.

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits and some herb notes, mostly Cab Sauv with small amounts of Merlot, Cab Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec, aged 16 months in 44% new French oak. On the palate flavors of blackberry and black cherry with sweet spice, cedar and notes of cacao. A consistent wine and a good value. Medium+ finish, fine tannins, well balanced ending with fruit , toasty oak and herb tobacco spice. — 2 years ago

Honorio Rubio Villar

Lias Finas Rioja Viura 2015

Not your typical California or French Rose, but $14.00 on sale it works
Definitely will decant my 2nd bottling

Winery Notes,
Honorío Rubio is a Riojano white and rosé specialist. In a land best known for its incredibly age-worthy reds, among many die-hards out there it is undoubtedly the traditional whites which represent Rioja's finest and most original wines. We would add as well the barrel aged rosés, which are incredibly rare (Lopez de Heredia's has not been available for over 5 years, and we hear that they will finally have a little bit of the next release, 2008, in 2018!) Honorío makes an absolutely killer rosé, from some of his oldest Viura and Garnacha, briefly macerated and co-fermented, then aged 16 months in used barrels (which previously held his Lias Finas white wine). An inimitable, rich and bright, incredibly food friendly style of rosé.

Heck of a hosting by @Weston Eidson last night for the City Club wine group. All wines were tasted blind.

My other Co-WOTN. For me, these wines are up there with the best in Napa. The history, the people and the wines are just top shelf. Loved our visit here earlier this year. Having had the ‘13, ‘14 and ‘16, this seems to be the most accessible and certainly more so than the ‘13. This was powerful the entire evening and the fruit stayed ripe and sweet covering the red, blue and black spectrum. Graphite, dark chocolate up front, but it did turn more elegant at the finish showing potpourri and baking spices. Sheer To Kalon power.
