Great bottle from Jay. Drinking really well right now. Herbal and potpourri aromatics. Currant, fig, cranberry and black tea on the palate.

Phenomenal cerise and mauve color. Bright nose at opening with lots of floral and violet notes. Still some great structure and soft tannins; deep black cherries, but more raisin and black currant characters after 30 minutes. Well balanced and great finish.

Ah finally, a true modernist in this line-up! The 00’ Rennina poured out bricked. No longer primary on the nose, it was all leathery and dusty, with distinct oak vanilla, camphor, and underlying cooked fruits. Sour cherries, earth, and mushrooms on a rather soft palate, and a surprisingly short finish. I’m not sure I would call it over the hill, although it is quite plausible given the vintage, as it is more likely to be a case of imperfect ageing in our region. For me, this was more an intellectual than a sensual pleasure.
