Blackbird Vineyards
Arise Proprietary Napa Valley Merlot Blend
Great texture. Red fruit, tobacco, mineral. This vintage has 8% Syrah and you can tell. Very good wine.

Jan 28th, 2024Nice Bordeaux blend of 55% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot, deep Ruby with aromas of red fruits, herb, sweet spice and smoky scents. On the palate flavors of black cherry and ripe strawberry with vanilla, licorice and cacao, lively acidity. Fine ripe tannins, well balanced, long finish ending with fruit and spice.

Jan 15th, 2020Benefitted greatly by a 3 to 4 hour decant. Rich dark berries and tannins came together. Drank as a "conversation wine"... no food... and it was delicious alone.

May 4th, 2019This one has a spicy cedar box finish on the back of the palate. 2007 means it needs oxygen for a few mins before you drink it. It’s potent, but disappointingly off balance for a proprietary blend—it errs too far on the herbal side for me.

May 22nd, 2018Boysenberry, currents, deep blackberry jam that hasn’t been over extracted with sugar if thats possible. This gets better and better as its opening up. I can’t imagine what this will be like an hour from now although I would love to!!!

Apr 19th, 20182014, in a 1.5L format and decanted for about an hour before serving, really pretty from the start and got better with time. A lot of. Black berry jam, menthol and a hint of tar. Nice wine, I'd like to see a little more acidity on the back end but really enjoyed it

Mar 26th, 2018Shoulda let this breathe for a few hours but wasn't in the cards. Muted nose of blackberry and spice. Medium+ tannins circle around emerging dark red and blackberry fruit. Not much complexity but not one dimensional either. I think I kick the points up a level or two with 3 hours + in a decanter. But who's complaining!? Good stuff.
