Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2017

2012 vintage. Chocolate brownie with dried raspberries and tie red cherries. Baked black currant, dried blueberry, moist banana bread, violet in bloom, blackberry, vanilla, cinnamon.
Nice entry weight gives way to rich dark chocolate, dried strawberry, Cuban coffee, blackberry reduction, dark baked blueberries, grippy tannins, big fruit and density with a lingering depth.

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2012

A deeply intense nose that was well polished. Med + complexity. The palate is full but pretty with great black fruit, graphite, and chocolate notes. The structure is sturdy but elegant and in great balance. The length was long. This is a perfectly made wine the lacks character and excitement. #opusone #napavalley #mondavi #rothschild #oakville #bordeauxblend #ctbucklinwine — 6 years ago

One of the greatest wines I have ever enjoyed! Tasted twice, most recently last fall, the 1997 Opus One showed incredible complexity and range of flavors. Still evolving, this wine will continue to age for 6 to 10 additional years. Interested to see what you think. I haven't had that vintage for a decade tho.

I offered the '97 at a lunch of elite wine collectors yesterday, here in Hong Kong. It did not disappoint! The '97 has opened beautifully over the past 3 to 4 years.

Excellent to know that it plays well in places near and far.👍

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1998

Okay here we go -- my Christmas wine. Had it with medium rare filet mignon and grilled lobster tail.

Had the same bottle a few years back and it was missing something. Maybe it wasn't decanted long enough? (Although I had the resto at the time decant as soon as I entered) either way, I decanted this bad boy for over an hour and boy did it open up --

It starts off nice and round but shows off its depth with layers of flavors and structure with each second it lingers in your mouth. Dark fruits but not overbearing or jammy. Luscious tannins that balance out with a nice bit of minerality.

Okay enough is enough - this wine was the fucking bomb. Turns out
#OpusOne knows what it's doing. :-)
