On to the red wine! Too young but I wanted to try the first bottle of the batch for a baseline. And there's unsurprisingly oak, but Vosne spices too underneath, black cherry, hint of earth, touch of reduction...think the raw material is here, and it will get much better, just needs 20 years! #rockthered #letsgocaps #capspens #openthewhoopass — 3 years ago
I know you'll win today Caps. #rockthered #letsgocaps #capspens #playoffs #burgundy #dugatpyistheshit
Really good bottle of Burg, young, powerful, black cherry, barnyard, earth, but still very big tannins...once they resolve this will be even better. — 4 years ago
Band aids, green peppers, raspberry, tobacco, very forward tannins still, lots of grip, but so good. Couple more decades of life I'm sure.
And do or die Caps, already in the hole 1-0 #letsgocaps #rockthered #capspens #dunnvineyards #howellmountain #playoffs — 4 years ago
After the failure of big domestic red last game, we're back to my favorite; good Burgundy :)
And this is good...I still think 07 is fairly overlooked, I've enjoyed most I've had, and prices are still rational. Somewhat.
Right up my alley here. Great nose of earth, meat, vanilla, saffron, cherry, umami soy, spices, and an interesting hint of pachouli I dont think I've ever found in a wine before...just good stuff. Pretty palate too, lingering savory finish. Smooth, medium tannins that grip, a ways to go before they fully integrate.

Opening night! Rocking the non domestic red this season, why not 👍 nice way to start, all the Burgundy highlights I want, spiced cherry, black tea, barnyard and wet leaves. Time will only make this prettier at this point.

Big domestic red, a red lightsaber, and the game. Let's do this. #rockthered #Maythe4thbewithyou #letsgocaps #rockthered #capspens #starwars
So the wine: distinctly red, not purple drank! Raspberry, maraschino cherry, rose, graphite, Graham crackers, hint of green, smoke, tomato...palate comes off a little hot, tannins are smooth, but a ways to maturity I'd say.
The color here is distinctly red, not purple drank! — 4 years ago
Back to a big domestic red for the Caps :) Hint of smoked meat, oak, pepper, an almost skunkiness?, root veggies, quite hot on the nose, with big rough tannins. This comes off much younger than its 6 years, curious what this does in 20 years. Interesting wine I think, but it's one of those that I much prefer the nose to the palate.
