#burgundythursday Sap, subtle cherry, turned dirt, soy, dill, Vosne spice, but seems muted
Palate doesn't quite match up, I want more from it, seems muted here too...
I'm thinking this is mildly TCA tainted, where it's muted the wine a little, but the wine still shows (and is drinkable, ha 😋). Got 2 more, will see if this was an anomaly. — 9 years ago
Aerated and decanted but haven't let this sit very long. Nose of unmistakable strawberry, meat, chalk, fennel, fresh rain?, touch of alcohol. Smooth, pretty palate, not too complex, but it is an outstanding Bourgogne. Really looking forward to working my way up the AOC ladder with this producer. #burgundythursday #burgundythursdaynightfootball — 10 years ago
Last bottle of 6. Pretty, light, easy drinking. Nothing spectacular but a satisfactory #burgundythursday — 10 years ago

I have a decent supply of these, so I keep drinking them. Again an enjoyable bottle that has a lot of the components I want in a Burgundy nose, a light clean freshness, with earth and mineral notes. Feminine definitely. This doesn't have the barnyard and sous bois funk that sends me over the edge of sanity into fits of Burgundy induced delirium where I end up on street corners trying to score more '90 Vosne Romanee 1er to chug behind a dumpster, but it's enjoyable enough for a pleasant #burgundythursday — 10 years ago

Needs aeration and a decant, but that helps open this up...once that happens this is pretty, pure. Sweet cherry, definite strawberry, rose, hint of star anise and leaves. Spices show up on the palate, a little stem?, tannins need to calm down some more. Slight heat to the finish. Really good Bourgogne though, just let them sleep for a while longer.

Babykilling an '11 to check in for a not-rocking-the-red Burgundy Thursday :) Jersey packed away again until next season...why am I not surprised!
I don't find this as shut down as I expected. Decanted about 1.5 hours. Very nice, red cherry, distinct candied fruit spice, chalk, coffee, sweet noticeable rosewater, slight barnyard, touch of vanilla...honestly surprised here. Very approachable now I think, but more time certainly won't hurt, just evolve flavors and smooth it some more. Slight heat, but otherwise very enjoyable.

Always a good qpr I think with these Bertheaus. Easy to drink, nice tart cherries, great with food.

Not a bad bottle for #burgundythursday slight hint of black cherry, soy, spices (almost corning spices), meat, leather, chalky dust, barnyard, tannins still fairly noticeable with some resolution and integration still to come. Another decade won't hurt this. — 9 years ago
Awesome qpr. Red cherry, Valentines day heart candies, barnyard, hint of reduction still. So good. #burgundythursday #rockthered — 9 years ago
Opening night! Rocking the non domestic red this season, why not 👍 nice way to start, all the Burgundy highlights I want, spiced cherry, black tea, barnyard and wet leaves. Time will only make this prettier at this point.

Makes up for the Armand. Beautiful right out of the cellar into the decanter. Translucent garnet, even cold the nose is pretty and lithe, with strawberries, light cherry, soy, mild earth. Still cellar temp too, will follow up in a bit with palate notes and rating; it's a little muted right now at 55 degrees, but very promising so far.
Follow up... palate opened up with time and temp but give it some fatty food now or another decade in the cellar, tannins still have some resolving to do. Get a strawberry cream to the nose now too, subtle mint, spice...young, but very good, bottle for #burgundythursday — 10 years ago

Probably the best bottle of this of the 4 others in the batch I got. Distinct cherry, lavender, soy, hints of earth, but the palate is pretty weak, lacking body. Certainly decent for $20 though.

Lemon and lemon yoghurt and flint nose. Bright acidity and lean structure. #meursault #burgundythursday #burgundycanbeaffordable — 10 years ago
#burgundythursday Not a bad bottle. Good Burgundy barnyard with cherries 👍 — 9 years ago
A year & half after first #coravin this bottle was in a great place! Glad I heeded my own advice for once and waited! Great blend of terroir, fruit and acidity. #burgundythursday — 9 years ago
Baby killing to check out a bottle at the beginning. Distinct Vosne spice, star anise, cinnamon, cardamom. This would be fantastic with a bowl of Pho, ha!
Young, pretty, still very tight, the tannins grip like Velcro while still managing to come off as silk smooth after that initial lock in fades. Aside from the spices, black cherry, hint of cream, sweet tarragon, the subtlest mint, damn this is good already.
Will open another in 2024, ha!

Good pick from the cellar for #burgundythursday Nose of black cherry, sap, soy, very subtle fresh turned earth, lavender, palate has red and black fruit, tobacco, hints of leather and blackcurrant, and very fine tannins that still grab at the palate, lots of life left. Good show from a producer I enjoy very much. — 10 years ago
Another decent bottle of this $20 buy. Some spice (almost garrigue-ish?), tea, thin but very smooth palate. On its way out, drink now. #burgundythursday — 10 years ago
Decanted, consistent with the last bottle...black cherry and tea, earth and leaves, hint of meat. Very good bottle of Burg! #burgundythursday — 10 years ago

The elusive Maison Ilan 😋🤣 '12 is better than the '11, and this really is a pretty decent bottle of Burgundy.
