Round two. #theykeepgettingolder #1961 — 10 years ago
Beautiful light ruby color fading towards the rim. Med + complexity and intensity on the nose with wound up but dry black fruit with little sweetness. Bordeaux characteristics.
Palate was smooth and a touch watery with a med finish. The structure was very strong with firm tannins and acid. The wine was still compact and I got the feeling that it's going through an awkward stage and needs some more time. #chateaulafite #bordeaux #medoc #pauillac #1961 #ctbucklinwine — 8 years ago

My expectations were high. Unfortunately this did not live up to them. After two hours of being open there was an interesting palate. The nose was swampy. #louisgros #1961 #gros #vosneromanée — 9 years ago

From the famed '61 vintage this bottle was in fine shape, though it did drink like an antique. Elegant aromatics, florals, dried red currant fruits, sous bois, some good persistence, but it was a little short on the energy side for what you expect from CLR. Known as a slight under-performer for the year, it about fits that image. #lafite #1961 — 8 years ago
