Pungent and full of sweet fruity aromas of cranberries, pomegranate, blackberries, violets, licorice, with a slight hint of leaf sap, and a lively stone dust. Juicy and easy to drink, a mid bodied wine with presence that flexes its muscle, a plethora of sweet red and dark fruit flavors on entry followed by a energetic midpalate with nice acidity that continues on to the moderate lasting finish filled with cool mineral notes and nice sappy texture. — 6 years ago
Slightly more lively and energetic than the 2010 vintage offering aromas of ripe dark cherries, blackberries, plums, lavender, licorice, torrefact soil notes, incense, and sweet spices, and a decadent yet well integrated lactic note. A full bodied red with delicious dark fruit flavors on entry followed by a refreshing balsamic midpalate full of orange peel, licorice, and a cool chalky mineral note that continues on to the long lasting finish with chewy yet highly polished tannins. So elegant yet so rustic at the same time, this just gets better and better. — 6 years ago
I seem to prefer the 2015 Clarete at this moment than the 2014. It seems more poised and balanced with a internal elegance that makes this highly drinkable. Aromatically complex with notes of sweet cranberries, raspberries, orange peel, lavender, thyme, a slight old woody cabinet aroma followed by exotic spices. A nice mid bodied wine with crisp red fruit flavors on entry, refreshing balsamic midpalate with hints of citrus that lead to a chalky mineral finish that just permeates every inch of the mouth and keeps on going and going. This is incredibly delicious and mesmerizing. — 6 years ago
Utterly enticing with juicy fruits, dark cherries, blackberries, intense floral presence of violets, incense, allspice, and chalk dust. A light to mid bodied red with ripe fruit flavors of berries on entry, nice saline mineral core on the refreshing midpalate with torrefact notes leading to a long lasting a juicy finish filled with warm spices. Although the fruit seems to dominate there is enough acidity to provide balance, just incredibly easy to drink. — 6 years ago
Incredibly complex on the nose with toasted brioche, dried cranberries, cherries, rhubarb, candied ginger, sesame seed oil, and chalk dust. Frothy mousse with small concentrated bubbles that caress the palate and seem to make this wine lithe and airy, mouth drying chalkiness with hints of tart red fruit flavors, toasted brioche, and a long lasting finish filled with exotic oriental spices. — 6 years ago
Intensely floral aromatics featuring lavender and violets, a elegant fruity core composed of blackberries with some blueberries that lead to a slightly sauvage note followed by a earthy profile with some oriental spices, and stone dust. Sweet dark fruit flavors on entry that lead to a refreshing balsamic midpalate followed by an intense chalky minerality that seems to cool the palate which culminates with an explosion of oriental spices, and elegant yet chewy tannins. I particularly like the elegance and cohesion in this wine, it is drinking beautifully now while the 2014 seems a bit massive and going into deep slumber. — 6 years ago
Dense and inviting on the nose with green apples, apricots, lemon peel, jasmines, lavender, aromatic herbs, stone dust, white pepper, and a slight leesy aroma that mixes well with a slight creamy vanilla note on the end. Nice midbodied unctuous wine on the palate with intense lemon pith notes on entry intermixed with pears, green apples, apricots, a highly energetic midpalate with saline mineral notes that cut through to the long lasting spicy finish where the oak is so well folded in that its imperceptible. — 6 years ago
Floral driven on the nose with intense notes of violets and wild lavender along with ripe cherries, raspberries, blackberries, leather, and sweet spices. A mid to full bodied red with a nice well rounded silky texture, delicious red and dark fruit flavors with a balsamic midpalate followed by licorice that leads to a cool mineral infused finish with creamy tannins. — 6 years ago
A new single vineyard wine produced by Christos Zafeirakis, featuring 20 year old vines from Paleomilos, fermented and aged for 12 months in 2400 liter oak barrels. Outright it demonstrates the typical Zafeirakis style but with a bit more potency and concentration; incredible aromas of peach, apricots, intense floral aromas of jasmines, orange peel, gunpowder, crushed stones, white pepper, and an almost imperceptible oak laden vanilla note. A midbodied white with a promising structure, flavors of green apples, pears, and apricots on entry, a refreshing saline mineral midpalate with a plethora of citrus that penetrates the long lasting spicy finish with minor hints of buttery oak flavors. Although this is still a infant, there is an inherent balance between fruit, acidity, and oak, reminiscent of a top tier white Burgundy but with the telltale Zafeirakis finesse and saltiness. — 6 years ago

Hot off the bottling line, Domaine Zafeirakis Terracotta Limniona, traditionL Greek grape now aged in an old school "traditional" manner... 18 months in amphora! Still quite young, dominated by pure dark and red fruit, and saline mineral notes. — 6 years ago
