What is better with a 1.75” medium rare steak and an Idaho baked potato? A super dry, dense, heavily oaked Napa cab! I was glad I decanted the wine before we went to a dance recital of our granddaughter. Upon our return 2.5 hours later, the coarse tannins had been beaten into submission and opened up into pleasant flavors of cigar box, cedar and old spice and fully integrated with dark, dry blackberry, pie cherry and mulberry. Oak, baking spices , nutmeg and coriander up front. Middle tones of earthy tobacco and overripe fig. Sage and eucalyptus. Just the right hint of smoke to tease you. Beautiful lush and silky tannins give way to beautiful fruit. Cassis and medium acidity. Great long lasting finish. At 13.5% this is absolutely perfect showing. — 2 years ago
