Perfectly aged, this California chardonnay from
Kistler was simply stunning! Notes of dried pineapple, lemon curd, and vanilla bean on the nose, with the complexity of preserved lemons, butterscotch, and toasted almonds on the finish. A golden Valentine's day treat! #liquidgold #Kistler

2016 Burgundy... Do I need to say more? It's slamming good!
Nose is a saline solution with sweet green apple and light oyster shell.
Palate is incredible balanced acidity with Anjou pear and this ever lingering saline finish.
For certain, one of the best BoJo blancs to ever grace my glass!
Happy Valentine's Day 2019 to all.
24hr Update: Nose has subsided slightly, but the palate is going strong and picking up minor red fruit (strawberry) notes. I tend to pick up those red notes only in Chardonnay from Beaujolais, after about a day or two after opening, interesting. — 10 months ago
Valentine's day....time for pinot and pizza! Decanted 1 hour. A forbidding dark ruby red color. On the nose: Earthy, red fruit, floral, mushrooms, cinnamon...all jump out of the glass. Taste: Dark cherry, spice, tobacco, minerals....a power Burgundy from 60 year old vines. — 10 months ago
Seriously *ahem* sumptuous stuff. If I was in a typically uncharitable mood and not already a bottle deep after a lovely Valentine's Day dinner I might say this was a tad overripe. But as it is I mean how can you not love it? Blackberry coulis, iron filings, clove, and bacon fat lend this an open, lascivious aromatic character that's hard to resist. On the palate the wine is gorgeously ripe and velveteen, with meaty, savory black fruit that's still fresh and light on its feet courtesy of juicy acids and just a glimpse of granitic minerality. On the cusp of being overdone but who cares. It's scrumptious. — 10 months ago

I can almost chew this wine its so big and bold! This is Campo de Borja 2016 Alto Moncayo. The color is deep Burgundy. The legs are slow and thick. The bouquet, fields of lavendar and lilac. The initial palate is amazing!!!!! Huge blackberry, boysenberry and raspberry. Then there is a small hint of cherry in the background somewhere. You can tell these vines are really old. The mid palate is phenomenal. Spice and vanilla- yum! Lots of oak and earth. The thickness reminds me of a juicy filet mignon. The finish is dry and lingering with the feel of butter left behind. Time to serve with dinner:
Filet mignon, baked potato, mustard greens, and a french baguette. Happy St. Valentine’s day to me!!!!!!! — 10 months ago
