I don’t think I have even gotten a note of banana bread pudding on the nose of a wine before. Wow! Mint and honeycomb. A slight waxy character note too. Viscous, large and in charge. Commands attention from everything else on the table. Candied vanilla marshmallow? So unique and incredibly delicious. Awesome bottle @Dan Fitzgerald .

Another 4th Friday for the books! What a variety this month!

Fantastic nose of honeysuckle, peach pith, and a slight bit of mint. I actually think this needs quite a bit more time...or a very long decant. Felt like it never really opened to its potential in the amount of time it was open. Wouldn’t be scared to hold for a few more years.

White wine of the day. Absolutely killer drinking window. This isn’t buttery popcorn, but more salted popcorn kernel. Lots of mineral-ality here. Wet rock. Almonds. White flower. Stunning!

Well. Hmmm. Opulent? Hedonistic? Over the top? Yes to all three. Floral nose and citrus predominant on opening. After a thirty minute decant, almond and citrus oil took over. Weighty in the mouth but exceptionally pure and has great lift on the finish. It's definitely an experience. Served with Julia Child's Chicken with Cream and Mushrooms and it was spot on.

Another great Weekly Wine Committee in the books, this time hosted by Dan. Format stayed the same (1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds, 1 dessert wine) and everything is guessed blind.

Again, I guessed Chardonnay but the lemon cream on the nose had me guessing Aubert. This was the White of the day for me, and of course it was, since it's a 99 pointer! Large and in charge. One of the best west coast chardonnays I've had. Great texture and mint finish.

Striking different from the more linear, more focused 2011 I last tasted & loved. Loads of ripe fruit with generously oaky overtones. Attractive cloudiness in the body. More acidic lift would bring this to a more ethereal level.

Young, a little cloying, rich and too much oak right now. Settled down a lot after 2 hours but I suggest a "hold" for now.
