Happy Labor Day weekend! Weekends in general are a great time to relax after a tiring work week. It's finally time to open that bottle you’ve been waiting five days to drink, and now you can fully take in and enjoy. So, what happens when it’s a long weekend? Open more than one bottle you’re excited about! Whether you’ve planned a weekend getaway to the mountains or the beach, are planning on having a socially distanced gathering, or even if you’re still working over the weekend, we hope you have wines that will pair well with your weekend activities! Pian Dell’Orino Vigneti del Versante Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2014: Smooth & elegant. Lively acidity. Medium tannins. Nice cherry bouquet. Red fruits. Leather. Herbs. Earth. Powerful long finish. This '17 is delicious!!
It reminds me a lot of a sangiovese from Radda or Castelnuovo Berardenga or even a northern brunello. Vibrant, mineral, but supported by strong shoulders that you can't notice much at this stage. Neat and precise are the violet,tobacco and licorice.
Spices, leather and cola. The fruit is between a blood orange and a raspberry. I dare to say it recalls a Soldera's Brunello. Long, young and enjoyable from now and many years ahead. — 4 years ago

@Ceccherini Cristiano interesting comparisons. I don’t often read about Pinot’s characteristics in this way. If this is that close of a comparison to two very different varietals then, I may have to reorganize my cellar better so that I don’t get Brunello’s and Pinot mixed up.

Mind though I didn't compared sangovese and pinot, but specific sangiovese from specific areas with this specific pinot. Many producers in Tuscany are known to be producing wines that resemble a Burgundy, but the play in your mouth is slightly different. Instead of fascinate you with the array of scents, smooth touch and a never ending elegant after-taste some wines IMO they deliver a juiciness when they enter and then in the mid palate they explode and spread everywhere with a long powerful after-taste. Well I reckon this T&T pinot noir had that factor that I find in many Tuscan wines, specifically in sangiovese from Radda, Castelnuovo(sometines) and Montosoli(northern area of Montalcino); other wines are like that(Kurni, Habemus...) but having ancestors from the Chianti area shifts me easily on that vision.
I don't think you need to move anything around in your cellar😄, but you got curious on what you would have done in regards🤗. Cheers mate!🙏

2010. Loved the orange wine and salmon sushi pairing last weekend, so when our friends were making salmon for us for dinner, I pulled this from the cellar. This wine was so good with the food! Diving into the pond with the 🐸 tonight!

2 hour decant(cloudy sediment). An imposing dark crimson red color. On the nose: savory notes of smoked meat, little of the Cayuse funk(luv it), spice, campfire, floral, dark berries, black olives. Taste: smooth, creamy, rich, juicy, structured medium plus body wine with mouth coating cherry-raspberry, iron, tea, rich soil, pepper, smoke, and a minerally bacon grease long finish.
