California Old Vine Zinfandel. No doubt a blend from two or more counties of origin. Dark ruby red, very good clarity, high pigment extraction. Strawberry on nose, cherry and plum in mouth. 14.5% alc/vol. smooth mouthfeel initially but some skin astringency on finish. Decant. Tar and eucalyptus emerge after 30 minutes. — 6 months ago
I’ve waxed (eloquent? Well, at least waxed!! 🤔) about the virtues and quality of this excellent 2020 Zinfandel multiple times, but this wine is still punching well above its weight (the so-called “leftovers” that didn’t make the single vineyard cut), long finish, lovely!! Going to the Bedrock pickup party in Sonoma tomorrow to get some of the 2024s I’ve already purchased, so this is a great warmup!! — 9 months ago
13.5% ABV Salute to Lulu Peyraud of Domaine Tempier in France. Lulu’s father owned the vineyard , and she along with her husband took it over. Sadly we lost her in October 2020 at the age of 102 y/o. This is a blend of old vine Mataro and Grenache. Light salmon color, watermelon initially , later apple. Very nice! — 4 years ago
Smooth. Oakey and kind of a cheesy finish. — 6 years ago
71st birthday. The last bottle of Carignane… — 4 days ago
I liked the uncharacteristic subtle sweetness from plum and dark fruits. Add a touch of leather and vanilla, soft tannins, and this one was smooth. Good stuff! — 4 months ago
An excellent wine. Buttery with lots of yellow peach, honey, apricot. Silky smooth. — 3 years ago
Delicate. Slightly cloudy light crimson hue. Raspberries and floral. Not a lot of complexity but nice. — 5 years ago
I have a cold, but it has a strong, yet enjoyable flavor. I like how dark of a wine it is. — 2 months ago
Amazing Zinfandel, fruity, taste of sweetness, still fresh. — 5 months ago
This was rich and delicious. It was fair enough for Suckling to pose the question “Is this the best NZ Pinot so far”? Ticks all the requisite boxes - ripe red and black fruits, a creamy texture, a nice garrigue herbal note. This Pinot lives up to the gorgeous site - one of the most awesome views you will see from the top of the vineyard over Lake Wanaka. Most impressive. — 6 months ago
Unlike my memory of zinfandels on the beach in California, but quite compelling. Almost bitter, yet dark and soothing. Chocolate is like that. — 3 years ago
Part of zin wine tasting. Fav one of the set — 5 years ago
Barnyard nose, with very little fruit. Flavor bomb! Luscious red cherry, cedar, spicy, super smooth, and not a hint of tannins. Amazing for 10 bucks. — 6 years ago

Big polished and showing a hint of heat. Happily the oak isn’t too pronounced. For me this baby needs time. — 12 days ago
