Grosset

Polish Hill Clare Valley Riesling 2013

Mid yellow in colour. Musky notes with a little talc - white and yellow flowers. On the palate lovely ripe peach flavours. Incredible flavour intensity. Irresistible. Low acid. Definitely one of Australia’s best dry Rieslings. No notes of TDN. Have the last one in a year or two. See previous Delectable note 6 years ago in June 2018 when it was carrying more citric acid. — 17 days ago

@Bob McDonald, yes it is. Gaia isn’t tho. It’s a real shame because there’s been a pull-back on Aussie wines in the U.S. Over 20 years ago, the market was flooded with Aussie wines, many sub par. Now Aussie wines occupy a small space on the shelves over here.

Penfolds

Bin 389 South Australia Cabernet Shiraz 2020

Bit of a throwback style here with lots of big #cabernetsauvignon#shiraz fruit aromas. Quit elegant on the palate but new oak is noticeable towards the end of the sip, though tannins are velvety. Could use at least half a decade more to integrate - this wine is built for the long haul. — a month ago

Grange Hermitage Bin 95 Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2001

Grange tasting flight 3
99 & 01 Here the 99 was clearly the favorite of the group youthful showing dark fruits, spice , menthol with perfect balance that should age gracefully for many years

Leeuwin Estate

Art Series Margaret River Chardonnay 2011

Typical nose of an Art Series Chardonnay with that dried pear character. On the medium weight palate a nice combination of ripe grapefruit and under ripe yellow peach. Medium minus acid. One can’t help but love this Chardonnay. A wonderful terroir, the Gin Gin clone, great winemaking, and an excellent vintage - ticks all the boxes. At its peak but enough acid for a few more years if you wish. That was my last bottle of the 2011. — a month ago

@Doug Powers Yes Doug. A good spot for lunch as well where you can get some seriously aged Art Series Chardonnay to go with your fresh WA Marron. Mouth watering just thinking about that.

Rockford

Basket Press Barossa Valley Shiraz 2016

I received a bottle of Rockford as a 40th birthday gift, a wine I wasn’t familiar with at the time. After five years of aging, I opened it in the company of good friends – and what an experience! A rich and well-balanced wine, with intense flavors of berries and plums that really impressed. Wow, a wine that captivates with its harmony and depth. — 3 days ago

Grange South Australia Shiraz 2001

About as big of a personality as one could imagine and yet, Grange remains true to itself. The 2001 is still quite youthful; imbued with enormous power. Concentrated, ripe blue and black fruits with some mushrooms, earth, purple flowers, black pepper and delicious baked goods. It’s great now but could use another decade+ to fully mature and from there, who knows? 2051 seems easily attainable. — a month ago

Ha. Very nice. That’s a lot of firepower for a tailgate and appropriate in that venue! I see the Haut Brion in the background too. Cheers
