Baked pineapple, super ripe nectarine, a little creamy custard, orange flowers, red papaya, passion fruit, quince, candied ginger, candied pink grapefruit, confected mint. Unmistakably good Scheu-iness and good length on the finish. Can't wait to see where this goes over the next few years/decade! — 11 years ago

I’ve only experienced quality Spatburgunder with Enderle & Moll, so tasting this Savio Soares import ( in proper Pinot stemware) felt like another revelation. Peppery & fresh, but enough mid weight to accompany a burger & a green gazpacho, & enough layers & acidity to keep it interesting. Gorgeous. — 4 years ago

I'm gonna give it a win for me on producer, even though I totally forgot the name "Muller-Catoir". Instead, I described the estate - in the Pfalz, famed for its wildcard varieties, especially rieslaner and scheu, and KP started making rieslaner and scheu because Julia fell in love with the varieties while interning there.

I guess it wasn't a hard guess once the variety was revealed - mainly by method of elimination since hardly any scheu enters Australia, short of the occasional Keller, and none of KP's 17' scheu got in. I think like KP, Muller-Catoir really nailed the 17' scheu trocken. Juicy, dense, spicy, and super energetic. So delicious right now, but I reckon it'll stand the test of time. — 7 years ago

Not an ice wine in its true sense as the grapes were not harvested frozen on the vines.

It lacks the nutty and molasses notes I often associate with ice wine, in particular from Canada, and certainly not as rich. Still very enjoyable with lovely tropical fruits and floral notes. Viscous yet refreshing.

100% Scheurebe, which is a crossing of Riesling and Bukettraube, and was created by German viticulturalist Georg Scheu - hence the name Scheurebe (Scheu Vine). — 4 years ago
