This Grand Muscat is a step up from the Classic 12 year old I tasted 95 weeks ago. Liquid raisins, milk chocolate and toffee with incredible intensity. These are great to sip after dinner in winter but not as appealing as the weather warms up unless served with a slight chill. I hope the coming Summer is not as destructive as last Summer. — 4 years ago
Cuvée/Grand Cru from this family winery. 2016 was a great vintage for Barolo, back when you still had snow on the ground in early October. For the past three years the lack of snow/cold weather has really made harvesting extremely challenging in this region, to say the least. This specific bottle however shows a spectacular version of Barolo with rose petals, cherry, licorice, a bit of old leather, a classically delicate style of Barolo for sure. Showing signs of integration with softer tannins and a prolonged finish. Cheers. — 7 months ago
Bright salmon pink. Abundant nose of ripe cantaloupe and white flowers. Juicy palate echoes the nose with Royal Anne cherries, fines herbs, and a hint of anise on the lengthy but classically soft finish. Medium plus acidity is kept in check by the flavor profile. Complex as all get out for a Provençal rosè. Enjoy with meals from seafood to light cuts of beef(!) and it will sing! I’m having it with vegetarian pizza, but on its own as a warm weather sipper is a natural, too! Thanks, Regine!! — 4 years ago
Think I like this better than the last Miraval vintage which is to say, totally solid and yum grocery store avail rosé that when the warm weather beckons you can crack alongside your springtime frolics. But like, better than a lot of rosé. Maybe not on par w my faves but damn enjoyable. Okay WSET-(ish)analysis.
Eye: almost salmon
Nose: medium intensity raspberry meringue and an invigorated river
Tongue: medium plus acid, medium alcohol (13%) and medium plus bod for a pink. Flavors of raspberry foam, vanilla cream and, like big stones tossed into a cobbler, damn that is not technically wset but I’ll save those notes for the test I have coming. Anyway yum. Maybe I am too happy to drink a happy pink lime Miraval but I’m into this one about as much as I was the year I discovered it which I believe was the 2015 vintage. Yay. Go on now. Taste n tell me your thoughts. — 5 years ago
First time have this one, nicely aged steak wine.
Winemaker's Notes:
Great ripening weather in the Fall yielded beautifully developed ripe wines in 2005. The Sisters blend has aromas of spice, vanilla, cedar and plumy fruit. Very clean with smoky overtones, the flavors are of black cherry and red currants. Soft mouth feel and lively acidity make for an easy drinking enjoyable Cabernet Sauvignon blend.--Heidi Peterson Barrettwinemaker, June 23, 20082005 The SistersWinemaker Notes - This lovely wine is the little sister to our estate Jones Family Cabernet. It is a blend of certain blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Dark garnet in color with aromas of a young Bordeaux. I smell ripe blueberry and cocoa powder and bits of spice and toasted oak. This wine is medium bodied with firm structure that should lend itself well to further aging. The tannins are light and dusty and flavors are of plum and cherry. Nicely balanced.- Heidi P. BarrettWinemaker, Jones Family Vineyards — 3 years ago
Wow. This one has been sitting in my fridge for a while and with the weather so warm I decided to open up a rose. I didn’t realize how much I would enjoy this and didn’t realize how truly special and rare this was until I opened my notes (thank you JR!). This is a stunning example of what the Germans can do with Pinot noir. Beautiful harmony throughout. Notes of rose pedal that will knock your socks off. Just 75 cases produced. — 5 years ago

Just an excellent wine, and considering it’s a second wine this really is nice. Tons of black berry esque fruit on the nose. So balanced and pure and just very seamless. Great acid with nice integrated tannins with that refreshing note on the finish. Really delicious and significantly outperformed expectations. Great pairing with roast chicken and mushrooms, and especially nice as the weather turns to fall. Also a nice reminder why St J is my favorite left bank appellation. — 7 months ago
