Bought this Howell Mtn. Zin at the Turley Winery in Amador County on the Shenandoah Wine Trail (the Sierra Foothills in CA. Black cherry fruit and gravel spice nose. A full mouth of dark cherry, cassis and spice taste with a chocolate vanilla finish. Pairs well with pizza on a warming summer evening in our lovely backyard on the green. — 5 months ago
Fruit, fruit, and more fruit. This Zin features cooked strawberry, rhubarb, caramel, strawberry jam, raisin, plum, raspberry, with some oak somewhere in there. High alcohol, moderate plus tannins and acid. Matched perfectly with bbq pork ribs. — 19 days ago
White cranberry, ginger, lime zest, peaches. Super dry, super good! — 3 months ago
Big huge flan like texture in the mouth. So many sweet flavors, all of them: all sweet no funk tropical fruits, honeys, honeycombs, wax scent, caramel and toasted coconut. Mineral: citrus zest acidity that balances everything, clean plastic saffron flavors that cut through and structure everything. Very long and good sweet finish that hangs on like a vapor trail. The wine is funnel shaped in the mouth and holds on for a very long time. I could spend an evening with this.
