Third tasting of 2017 over a year and a half. First observation: this wine improves every time! For the rest, we are on a, jammy, peppery, moka, with fine floral notes. Wine from Morocco by an artisan winemaker from the Rhône, in the style of St-Jo or Croze over-vitamin.

Discovered at Ciccio in Yountville. Like a combination of white burgundy and Sauvignon Blanc…in a good way. Lemon, orange with oily complexity. Good stuff. — 2 years ago
Straw gold color. Blend of Malvasia (45%), Rhein Riesling (40%) and Friulano (15%). Intensely floral on the nose with a hints of apricot, honey and a touch of petrol. Green apple, pear and minerals fill the pallet. Spicy and citrusy finish. Clean and rich. Intense acidity. Outstanding food wine. — 4 years ago
A crisp white blend from Judean hills. Refreshing, hints of citrus mainly grapefruit. — 5 years ago
Dry, clean tasting up front with a bit more flavor towards the back. Very refreshing and a cheap find! — 6 years ago

The 2019 Chardonnay Ciampagnis is a gentle giant, as sweet spice and white flowers complement musky apple and pear. Its silky textures communicate elegance just as a zesty bump of nervous acids and tart orchard fruits add a reverberation of tension. The 2019 turns smoky through the finale, leaving ginger-tinged apricot, zests of lime and the slightest nuance of butterscotch to linger. I love the contrasts here, yet a short stay in the cellar is advised to allow its aromatics to fully blossom. (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2022)

Sourced from the esteemed Seven Hills Vineyard in the Walla Walla Valley, this Viognier opens with a ripe bouquet of white peach, vanilla cream and suggestions of honey and apricot. The palate shows notable viscosity and tension, with nectarine, Pink Lady apple, green papaya and honeydew melon flavors all buiding up to the finish. Drink 2019-2025- 92 — 8 years ago
Drinking local in the Grand Valley AVA (Palisade CO). Such a fun place to visit....wineries on bike, exceptionally lazy today so electric assisted (like a golf cart on two wheels). Colorado has a lot of mediocre wine but Petite Verdot has been an exception. Dark fruit, oaked, old world feel. Surprising. — 8 years ago

See my previous notes from last year. By all accounts, this bottle is an analog of the previous bottles I have enjoyed of the 2021 “Vie Erte”. This time, I was able to track the wine over three days and it never lost power. The fruit and structure are in harmonious balance. I am so excited to try this vintage when it begins to show some secondary characteristics…but I’m fully expecting to see exercise some serious patience. These wines will love for a very long time. — 21 days ago
