Château Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Medium ruby , slighter narrower ruby / pink rim , a little less bright . Slightly deeper , darker fruits , blueberry, violets , with scorched earth , mineral and grafite . On the palate , more intensity and power perhaps , more noticeable though still velvety tannin , dark fruits , mineral , saline , fresh cigar. Lovely fresh acidity , balanced alcohol . Long saline , mineral tinged, slightly toasty finish . Needs time obviously , but will be one of the great wines from a great vintage in 20 years, just wait — 7 months ago

Seven Oaks Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon

v21. As soon as you open , pour and sniff…imagine crushing a bunch of Cabernet grapes in your hand in the barrel room of a winery, this is the smell you get opening this wine! This wine consistently over delivers.
Nose evolves to soft tobacco.
Luscious, juicy blackberry fruit. Smooth, spicy, velvety, chocolate finish. Great entertaining wine!

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

10yrs from vintage date and Cathy’s favorite spot. I wouldn’t disagree. More aromatic now but fruit still deep with velvety tannins. Kronos up next! — 8 months ago

Isosceles Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Delectable Wine
9.4

Vanilla bean and mocha come together with hints of kirsch and a peppery Cabernet Sauvignon flourish as the 2019 Isosceles forms up in the glass. This is pure elegance, velvety smooth yet energetic, with depths of ripe red and blue fruit that coast across the palate with ease. The Isosceles excels through its acidity, as the mouth waters throughout the long and dramatic finish. Gingery spices and hints of sweet blueberry preserves linger on. Well done. This is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot. (Eric Guido, Vinous, July 2024)

Shockingly young. Took nearly an hour in a the decanter to express. Wish I set aside for first hour or so. Classic Cali Cab. Velvety finish bordering on ensconced. — 3 years ago
