Coume de L'Olla Blanc Macabeo Muscat Petit Grain 2021

@Peter van den Besselaar would call this “frivolous”. Light tannin, easy drinking. #orangewine — 2 years ago

In my last tasting I got a lot of comments, romo, for what I thought frivolous 👯‍♀️ was not recognized by some others 🤭

In my case, and I believe in yours as well, this word is not a pejorative. Though, I can see how others may interpret it as such. Many wines, esp natural or vin de table, etc, provide joy but do not take themselves too seriously.. frivolous. 🤓

Planeta

Etna Nerello Mascalese 2016

Everything @Peter van den Besselaar said about the 2015 he tasted stands here.

Cherry and almond on the nose, there is maybe a touch of strawberry too. Good palate, not unlike a burgundy one in structure, very strong acid backbone, good width, with a soft mouthfeel but lots of energy, a nice strawberry, cherry note all along, a bit of a spicy tannic thing in mid palate and a very long fruity finish along that acid backbone. While not grand, this is a very nice tasting experience.

Bot River Tinta Barocca 2017

— 6 years ago

Domaine des Roches Neuves (Thierry Germain)

Clos Romans Saumur Chenin Blanc 2020

The 2020 version of this cuvée once again notches into my top white wines ever. Elements are in balance and working with vim and vigor. Body is full, acid is bright and crystalline but somehow tender (that’s relative - it is still scorching). And the texture is world class. The floral and confectionary perfumes that emerge in time layered over wool and slate simply steal the show.

New Year, and let’s be honest the world seems to be hurtling past the point of no return into a black hole of shit, but I’m thankful for Roches Neuves / Boudignon / Huet / Closel and the other guiding lights of Loire Chenin, making what I maintain is some of the best wine on earth and selling it for a pittance (even at $80 this is a value) Until everyone else wises up, I will just be over here with my other Chenin zealots (here’s looking at you
@Peter van den Besselaar ) nursing bottles of Saumur, Savennieres and Anjou and laughing at our good fortune. Not dry, #cheninjanuary

@Andrew Schirmer if have more than three bottles and are planning on tracking the progression, this can be enjoyed with a big glass and lots of air now, otherwise I’d wait a few years if you can!

Clos de l'Ecotards Saumur Chenin Blanc 2014

Vintage 2014 | Razorsharpe Chenin Blanc with minerality. Not a wine to get acquainted with the grape, it does by no means try to charm you. But for lovers of a Chenin Blanc, it is top! Nice acidity. Pure. | A lot like @Peter van den Besselaar ’s Boudignon from last week. Happy Birthday! 🎂 — 4 years ago

Unwrapping gifts 1/3. Opening unknown bottles is exciting. This petnat was a perfect apéritif. Clean, fresh, and frothy. Made out of Menu Pineau and Romorantin; world-famous in Cheverny. Thanks @Peter van den Besselaar! — 9 years ago

Great white wine made of Melon de Bourgogne. Bought last year at the winery. They produce some great small cuvees which can be found on many wine lists in fine dining restaurants and I completely get that.
@Peter van den Besselaar thanks for sending me to this excellent wine maker!
