Valle Isarco Eisacktal, Alto Adige

Manni Nössing

Eisacktaler Kerner 2018

Manni is THE advocate for Kerner - an under the radar variety that I’d describe as Riesling with a figure. His clocks in at 13.5%, so you’d expect some richness but it comes out a clean translucent silvery green skin. It looks mute but sings. Grapefruit and lychee and white flowers and white pepper too. — 15 hours ago

🔥🔥 Nice pull. Ian D’Agata seems all over Kerner too in his latest piece on Alto Adige, or is it Sud Tirol?

Pacher Hof

Kerner

Mineraly, crisp, and and a little citrusy. Had at Fiore on NYE 2019. — 2 months ago

Kaiton Südtirol Eisacktaler Riesling 2017

A Riesling with fruit and balance, but not sweet. Incredibly food friendly it was a perfect accompaniment to gnocchi with a light tomato sauce. — 3 days ago

Sudtirol Eisacktaler Sylvaner 2018

So easy to write off this formidable, yet tender giant because it needs at least three days’ aeration when young. And this one didn’t hit its stride until day 6, now exhibiting lemon zest, citrus oil, fleur de sel, subtle and persistent Alpine minerals and a palpable, electric energy. For me, this is the greatest Sylvaner in the world, along with Keller’s Feuervogel. — 2 months ago

Abbazia di Novacella (Stiftskellerei Neustift)

Stiftskellerei Neustift Kerner

Tart lemon with hints of fresh arugula, chives, and tarragon. Light, refreshing and wonderful with or without food. — 6 days ago

Abbazia di Novacella (Stiftskellerei Neustift)

Valle Isarco / Eisacktaler Lagrein

Somewhat closed nose with a medium to dark color with a full body with fairly strong but integrated tannins, but not much complexity & a short aftertaste. Good with tomato sauce. — 24 days ago

Manni Nössing

Sass Rigais Müller-Thurgau 2018

Alto-Adige in development. Light for Manni. It’s good but needs some years in bottle to grow into its personality. — 3 months ago
