Meandro Douro Red Blend 2021

ESF
8.9

i've had this off & on for the past 25 years and it reliably offers copious amounts of fruit along with cocoa, vanilla & other decadent flavors & aromas. This was no different just not as polished or balanced as I recall. Wonder if they've increased production - this is their entry level offering — 23 days ago

Monte Meão Baga 2013

Rich cherry and black currant nose. Color is purple with a watery thin edge. In the mouth it is not as sweet as the nose is. There is a rather fresh acidity bringing balance. It will be accompanied by the veal cheeks and mash. Looking forward to that.
As the bottle was opened anyhow to use a glass in the stew we already started tasting 😉.

Quinta do Vale Meão

Meandro Vinho Branco Douro White Blend 2023

A fresh & enticing Rabiga/Arinto blend.
Mirabelle & Reine Claude plums, with (underripe) lemons and green apples. Juicy & crisp.
Light on the palate, fresh & clear, juicy with enough depth & substance to make it interesting. Nice length, too.
A nice one for sipping.

Vale do Bomfim Douro Red Blend 2020

Touriga Nacional (40%), Touriga Franca (20%), Tinta Roriz (30%), Tinta Barroca (10%). Medium to deep purple. Medium body, medium tannin at most, medium acidity, dry. Some slight funk on the nose, in a very good way. Wet rocks, violets, light baking spices. Better after open for a day. Benchmark Duero for what I can find in the US so far. — 5 months ago

Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz 2018

I can only imagine that the expert reviews are lower because they don’t like the big jammy fruit bombs. But if you do this is an amazing wine. Huge and beautiful. — 4 years ago
