Flavors of ripe blackberries, plums and blueberry fruit with additional notes of dried herbs, sweet spices and tobacco. Medium-plus finish, full bodied and well balanced acidity. Retasting five months later. Melon and citrus notes in nose initially. Similar flavors plus orchard fruit and apricot in mouth, lemony finish. Creamy, nuanced, lovely flavor profile, balanced acidity. A tad more skin astringency intensity than I’d like at first, but much to admire here as the wine integrates over time. Also, this is a much better wine than communicated by its labeling, IMHO. — 8 years ago
