Copain

Thompson Santa Barbara County Syrah 2005

The nose faded fast but was great while it lasted. The finish is getting longer as it gets air and I’m liking it. Could be a bit more powerful and getting a bit of bramble/greenness but enjoyable. I had put off opening these since I thought it would be lackluster. It’s not and will be looking for the others. — 3 months ago

Thompson Vineyard Grenache Blanc 2022

Lightly floral. Nose. White flowers. Subtle. Almond beautiful. Elegant.

Palate : fresh. Saline. Mineral. Gods lemon but not bitter.

Long saline finish.

Very cerebral.

Reuilly Pinot Gris 2016

Nose has washed cherries, sliced Thompson grapes and dry sandstone.

Palate has mashed green/red table grapes, (light) citrus zest and green banana peel. Medium-short finish.

I'm still not seeing much improvement in this particular bottle of rosé, decent but not exciting.

@Dawn E. As you should! Any savy consumer should be happy with KL labels, but like any producer, every vintage is not a winner. The '15 on this one has more acidity to the palate, so more enjoyable for this wine-taster.

Morgon Gamay 2017

A little Brett up front but tasteful. So light and elegant but reminds you who it is- idk Nucky Thompson? The red berries just glide. Another success — 8 years ago

Monthly WTF wine night with a theme of “something to impress”. As always, wines were tasted blind.

I really enjoyed this and I feel like it’s in a prime drinking window (though it can hold for a while). I called this whole cluster Oregon Pinot. Looked like Beaujolais in the glass...very bright raspberry color. Perfumed aromatics highlighting whole cluster stemmy-ness (100% whole cluster) with ripe raspberries and bing cherries. Nimble and acidic on the palate showing crunchy cranberry, juicy cherry, spiced fruit and cedar. Thanks,
@Jack Thompson .
