Popped and poured; enjoyed over a 90 minute period. The 2019 “La Pièce sous le Bois” pours a glossy ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, well…the nose is gorgeous, if not downright sexy. Freshly picked, perfectly ripened strawberries, porchini, forest floor and gentle warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and voluptuous. This is very well-made. The fruit is such a star it’s almost as if this could have been from Santa Cruz Mountains. Drinking well now and has the ability to be enjoyed through 2029. — 5 months ago
Pretty. Less rustic than most maranges. 2019 — 7 months ago

On the palate, toasted wood, oak, quite acidic, old lemons, yeast at the end, minerals, stony. — 8 months ago

Mid lemon yellow in colour. A caramel top note initially, from the oak. A little too cold to begin with from the fridge but once it warmed up it showed its considerable charms. Fruit characters fading - honey, savoury and mineral to the fore. 2017 probably the best year for white burgundy since 2014. — 3 days ago
