Catching up on some delayed bottle posts...no notes.
My great friend/coworker invited me over to his house for a belated celebration of my birthday. We enjoyed this bottle, alongside some delicious, local Indian cuisine, while touring around West Hill Lake in northwest CT in his electric pontoon boat. — 5 years ago

Fruity with good balance of tannin and acidity. Good value wine. My house wine for the moment. — 3 months ago
Surprisingly good AFTER a lot of aeration. After 30 months in barrel and years on my rack I thought this would be in a good drinkable place from the cork, which was not unpleasant by the way. The predominant notes of Merlot and PV shown through in all stages, but the big take away was the breath and complexity increased with a couple days of air. (Vac’d plug of course) juicy, harvest fresh berries combined with just enough structure and herbal intrigue to make this delightful with artisan sausage pizza and our house smoky bacon bean soup. I had a chance to get a second bottle but it will be fun for someone else to taste a touch of North Carolina’s better half. — 4 years ago
Old-school red Burgundy by Pierre Bourée et fils, a small négociant house in Gevrey-Chambertin. This wine comes from one of the family’s four own vineyards, the Clos de la Justice, a 2-hectare walled plot located on the eastern side of the Route Nationale 74 (generally considered “the wrong side” of the road. Virtually all of Burgundy’s notable vineyard sites are west of the RN 74). Earthy, rustic. Aromas of red cherries, pepper, forest floor. Fresh, not particularly complex, easy to drink. High acidity — 5 years ago

Clear, deep garnet colour. Clean, pronounced blackcurrant and chocolate aromas. Dry with high acidity and tannins that are beautifully balanced and smooth. Full bodied with a long finish. Juicy blackcurrant, chocolate and mocha with a lovely vanilla flavour. An outstanding wine and a marvellous accompaniment to rack of lamb. — 6 years ago

Powerful aromas of blackberries and eucalyptus/menthol that come through on the palate as jammy and tingly... wow! Balanced acidity and tannins and a looong finish. Now this is a cab that will be liked in this house... None of the overly oaky milk chocolate smoothness of a Cali Cab. Bring on the steaks for Mom's birthday 💙🥲 — 2 months ago
