Quintessentially Provencial and substantial - made for a meal, not a pool. I live for that bitter herbal fennel apple note that seems to dance from Marsanne to Mourvèdre. Maybe terroir is a thing.

2017 from Clos Sainte Magdeleine has aromas of anise, fennel, celery seed, and apple seed. It’s rich and viscous with acid and flavors of peach, cantaloupe, and honeydew. — 5 years ago

One of the best visits in Champagne, Montgueux’s terroir is unmistakable. Manu’s approach at Lassaigne is admirable and the wines are remarkable. This 2010 was superb, and grew from a dense and concise expression into something wider and deeper with an hour being open. I think this was raised in Ganevat Vin Jaune barrels? Wow.
