Ever After Sonoma County Red Blend 2022

Once the wine was able to breathe, it was quite good for an everyday bottle. Hints of chocolate and deep red berries. Very smooth finish that allowed the berry taste to hang on the rear and sides of the tongue. Pleased with the bottle — 5 days ago

Walter Scott

Dumb Ox Pinot Noir 2014

My first encounter with Walter Scott's Pinot Noir's under Michael Alberty's provenance at Storyteller. All 2014s. Temperance Hill was lean, austere, still a tightly wound chrysalis brooding with tobacco & sandalwood. The Clos de Oiseaux has released more fragrance, and had moved beyond the meditative sandalwood phase toward dark cherry and oolong tea, wishing for time to cure and unfurl its powers. Dumb Ox is that brilliant, precocious child: transparently true & deep, expressing fruit and earth effortlessly. Makes me think of all the places all of these very fine Pinots will go with time and some hard-earned peace, but we took the Dumb Ox! — 10 years ago

Château Roquegrave

Batheos 2020

2020 vintage. Batheos is a high end wine produced by Pierre-Yves Joannon at Château Roquegrave in the Northern Médoc ( Valeyrac). There is very little chance you will come across a bottle, as there were only 2050 produced. Pierre-Yves is a storyteller and it would lead us too far to tell the whole story behind this wine, but most importantly it is very good. — 9 months ago

Cerrete Sagrantino di Montefalco 2007

Paola Bea super pour @Storyteller. Sublime. Soupçon of wild fennel, thyme. Cerrete is Beas' highest altitude vineyard; this, his "grand cru" Sagrantino.Thank you, Michael Alberty! — 11 years ago

The delicious, earthy savor of Sagrantino from the truffled, rolling forests of Umbria always offers a powerhouse of flavors, as if Petite Sirah and Barolo had a sultry, wild-eyed love child! These babies always take years to age, and Michael Alberty broke out the Storyteller gravity decanter for the Cerrete, so it could show the high altitude delicate notes of butterfly garrigue, in hints of fennel pollen, thyme, and towering cedars that beat like a secret inside the inky, dark heart of Sagrantino. Rare treats from a grape that's seldom seen anywhere else than Umbria, which is why I'm thankful the Cabernet Sauvignon cult hasn't found out that the wine they really lust after is really a marvelous Sagrantino.
