Château Bellefont-Belcier

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Tonight's wine is the 2016 Château Bellefont-Belcier. A Right Bank Bordeaux blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.

On the nose there is abundant black fruit, black cherry, blackberry, black plum, bbn lack currant, chocolate, tobacco, menthol, herbs, graphite, oak and earth.

On the palate the black fruit continues throught with black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, green bell pepper, chocolate, toasty oak, tobacco and earthy flavors.

This wine is full bodied with a firm, vibrant mouthfeel and medium + acidity and high mouth coating crunchy tannins that lead into a long dark fruit finish. Let's have a wonderful weekend and please be safe doing so. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Strolled into Trader Joe’s; the shelf was stocked with this. Couldn’t believe it. Picked up another half case. This is a phenomenal bordeaux and one of the best QPRs around. Haven’t tasted in a year and it’s just as memorable. Lots of great mushroom and sweaty gym socks with a dusty, tannic finish. Perfect example of a phenomenal wine at sub-$20 that drinks at 3-4x the price. — 12 days ago

November’s 4th Friday was a big hit. There is no way I’ll be able to upload all the wines, nor give them the reviews they deserve, but there were a few worthy of mentioning!

Typical Vineyard 29 (in my opinion). Their wines are normally very bright and red fruit dominant...this was no different. Ripe black cherries, crunchy cranberries, baking spices and red licorice on the nose. Perfectly weighted on the palate. Clean. Dark cocoa, mixed berry pie and cherry wood. Drinking really well now.

This has greatly improved since my last bottle several years ago. Dark cherry, cedar, florals. Long and delicious finish. Several years ago, a friend told me the best wine with truffles was old Bordeaux. That was news to me as I always chose Barolo or Burgundy. I’m now a convert. — 21 hours ago

It's time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Here is a nice one from Bordeaux.

Showing red and blue fruits with earth, wood, spices, peppercorn, tobacco and coffee.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.

Long finish with firm tannins and tangy cranberries.

This is a very nice Merlot based red wine from Bordeaux. Still young and needs another 5 years to mature properly.

Still unbalanced and better with food. A Good quality wine, nice and engaging.

Needs a few hours to open up properly.

Will pair nicely with BBQ Meats.

A blend of 80% Merlot and the rest are Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.

14% alcohol by volume.
