Riesling Ice 2017

Last weekend entry: excellent NY Finger lakes ice my palate could have been a high end Sauternes if tasted blind. Nice snap & tension. Butterscotch, cream & apples. Very well done. And a 20$ 1/4 bottle. — 8 days ago

Breakneck Creek Dry Riesling 2019

This wine was a knockout. It might be the second best dry Riesling I’ve had from the Finger Lakes. Would pair perfectly with oysters because of the pronounced salinity. Bursting with ripe white peaches, Granny Smith apple and freshly squeezed lime juice. Would describe this wine as electric, precise and refined. Delicious. — 14 days ago

Dry Riesling

A touch sweet for something touted as dry but we still enjoyed it — 9 days ago

Lake Michigan Shore Syrah 2012

Still going strong - now showing same black & blue fruits w/subtle hi-tone note along w/many secondary flavors of minerals, graphite, savory, forest floor and white pepper. Def northern Rhone vibe here, teeth staining, inky brooding & powerfully built, grippy - still can’t believe it’s from Mi — a month ago

Interesting to see more wines being made away from the traditional strongholds in the USA.

Bob: indeed - it’s like the proliferation of microbreweries, there is so much good wine being produced in places you don’t realize had that capability. I travel frequently and try to find gems in out of the way places
