Intipalka Tannat 2009

There are certain varietals that when you have for the first time, kinda of leave you scratching your head like “why didn’t I try this before?” This was certainly in that category. Rich, ripe, delicious black fruit with mild tannins, really balanced earthiness and full-bodied structure. I could’ve easily believed this was a claret from Bordeaux. Instead it’s from a far corner of Peru. Go figure. I would highly recommend giving this a try! — 2 months ago

Camino de Santiago

El Primero Graciano Garnacha

Lovely sparkling red colored. Cross between classic red roses and geraniums. Smells of lovely, nice smells. Like things made of fruits that are usually red. Cranberry sauce, currant jam and raspberry tarts. Hint of rocks. Rocks after they get wet in the streams and rivers. Flavor is exquisite. Juicy and tart. Hint of raspberry juice & cherry sorbet. Tiny bit like Pinot Noir. But also has that mystical blood orange, sweet berry and citrus flavor that can often make Bobal sing so. It’s also got a rose-hip and hibiscus thing going on. This is lovely Spanish stuff. Sad to find out that there was only one more bottle at Grocery O. Please make more Graciano España. Por Favor. — 10 days ago

Quimera Malbec Blend 2013

A blend of 50% Malbec, 24% Cab Franc, 18% Merlot & 8% Cab Sauv. Aged in 100% new French oak but in 2013, half of the wine was put in smaller 160 liter oak barrels and I read that Santiago Achaval claims the fruit is more expressive, wow I would not have thought that. Aromas of fruit and floral scents with slightest waft of cedar was present, makes the aforementioned statement somewhat true. Raspberry and cherry flavors, hints of spice, fine tannins, well balanced lingering ending with juicy mineral finish. Nice, Great value! — a year ago
