Maybe the bottle had been opened for the just the perfect amount of time, but this was one of my favorite glasses of wine by the glass I’ve had in a restaurant—I had them bring the bottle back for a picture. Cassis, oak, pepper, licorice combined perfectly to create a flavor that I can only describe as exactly my preferred taste in wine. Cute little building on the label. Lovely red, red wine color. Smells like I imagine the warm, dry hills of the Rhône must smell. Hint of red berries. Some chaparral stuff (or garrigue as they call it over the pond). Flavors are classic and very clean. Berry jam, fresh cut herbs, beets, little smoke, black licorice. 2018 vintage. Forest floor, mushrooms and überripe plums in a peek-a-boo nose. Tremendous, consistent drive from intro palate to and thru the finish. Verry polished and ripe. Medium+ bod. If blind tasting this, would have guessed Napa with a small % of mountain fruit. Some tannins afoot but they’re not currently prominent-more fruit forward. First go-round with this producer. An auspicious first impression. It would be difficult to find a decent Bordeaux smoother than this. I ain’t signifying a 30 year lifespan-or even a 20 spot-but it’s ready to party now. Only had a handful of 2018 Bordeaux and they’ve all been fruit forward…detecting a trend there. — 5 years ago
