K&L notes as follows, Grand Pontet is an interesting property, positioned in the neighborhood of other stars of the appellation such as Châteaux Canon, Beau-Séjour-Bécot and Clos Fourtet. It is, however, a small estate, a mere 14 hectares, and its prices are much better than some of its more prestigious neighbors. In 1980 it was purchased by Gerard and Dominique Bécot, owners of the neighboring Beau-Séjour-Bécot. They have applied the same high standards to both Châteaux in their possession, and their winemaking team crafts Grand Pontet alongside the Beau-Séjour-Bécot wines. Recently purchased in 2021 by Domaines Clarence Dillon (Haut-Brion, La Mission Haut-Brion, et al.), the property was combined with and incorporated into Château Quintus. Full-bodied and luscious, this Grand Pontet is laden with ripe blackberry fruits, savory tobacco, licorice notes, and ripe, softened tannins. It’s seamless and bold, not shy. It’s going to require something decadent to pair with, such as filet mignon or some other black-tie dish with plenty of flavor and rich umami presence. — 3 years ago
Region: Saint-Estephe Grape Variety: Bordeaux Blend Red ABV: 13.5% . "Ruby red with violet reflections in colour, on the nose, aromas of plum and cassis with notes of spices. On the palate, dry, oaky, smokey, spicy, fruity, hint of tobacco, touch of leather and toast, delivers red fruits character, balanced, lengthy, soft, silky, layered, mature, earthy, persisted, rich, firm. It has a long finish." — a year ago
The nose needs some air, the cork was wet with some aromas of wet cardboard at first but things got for the better after with no apparent defect and a classic left bank nose. Gorgeous balanced Cos, not the most powerful at this point but gracious, showing no fatigue also with a long delicious finish.

As usual gorgeous wine, white fruit,a very slight buttery and oaky touch, mothing too much, nice balance between acidity and roundness, nothing too heavy, very nice but needs some time in the cellar in my humble opinion. — 4 years ago
— 8 months ago
5/2024. Very nice blend. Full of flavor. Sits well on the palate. Good finish. Paired well with the grilled bone in pork chop at Mr. Friendly’s. — a year ago
Gorgeous Villages level wine, young but drinks well even now, nice structure, approachable tannins, nice freshness, good length, very satisfying at this level. — 4 years ago
Superb St-Aubin with this PYCM signature, mineral driven with a certain richness and roundness typical of that vintage, but without being too heavy, nice length, gorgeous and showing no rush to drink up this 2015. — 4 years ago

Château Beau-Séjour Bécot 2021
Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, Bordeaux, France 🇫🇷
Overview
A benchmark Right Bank Bordeaux and one of the most celebrated Grand Cru Classé estates of Saint-Émilion. The blend typically centers on Merlot (about 80%), with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon providing lift and structure. The 2021 vintage reflects the cooler, more classic style of the year, showing freshness and restraint compared to warmer vintages.
Aromas & Flavors
Bright and elegant with aromas of red currant, raspberry, and wild strawberry layered with violets, graphite, and savory spice. On the palate, the wine unfolds with fine red fruits, black cherry, and plum, accented by notes of cedar, tobacco leaf, and crushed stones.
Mouthfeel
Medium to full-bodied with refined tannins and a polished texture. Fresh acidity drives a long, mineral finish, showcasing the limestone plateau terroir that Saint-Émilion is famous for.
Winemaking Notes
Hand-harvested fruit, traditional vinification, and a judicious use of French oak barrels (both new and seasoned) highlight balance and elegance over sheer power. The limestone soils of the plateau contribute to the precision and minerality in the wine.
Food Pairing
A natural companion for roasted lamb, duck breast, or earthy mushroom dishes. Also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses and refined charcuterie.
Verdict
Château Beau-Séjour Bécot 2021 is a classic expression of Saint-Émilion — elegant, structured, and terroir-driven. A vintage that emphasizes finesse and freshness, it is enjoyable now with decanting but has the pedigree to age gracefully. Cheers! — 2 months ago
