Pascal et Nicolas Reverdy – Sancerre Rosé “Terre de Maimbray” 2016
Loire Valley, France 🇫🇷
Overview
From the limestone-rich slopes of Maimbray, Reverdy crafts this 100% Pinot Noir rosé, showing how Sancerre can shine not only in whites but also in elegant, age-worthy rosés. Though Sancerre is world-famous for Sauvignon Blanc, about 20% of its vineyards are planted to Pinot Noir, which can be vinified as red or rosé. This bottle demonstrates just how gracefully a Loire rosé can evolve with time.
Aromas & Flavors
Wild strawberry, raspberry, and redcurrant with rose petals and dried herbs. With age, subtle tones of candied orange peel and a light spice develop, adding dimension without overpowering.
Mouthfeel
Silky and rounded, with acidity still intact to keep it lively. Medium-bodied with a savory edge, balancing freshness and maturity.
Food Pairing
Perfect alongside charcuterie, grilled salmon, or roast chicken. The evolved texture also makes it a great partner for mushroom risotto or lentil dishes.
Verdict
A rare aged rosé that proves Pinot Noir from Sancerre can deliver both finesse and staying power. Still vibrant after 9 years, this wine highlights Reverdy’s skill and the region’s versatility beyond Sauvignon Blanc. — 9 months ago
Reminds me a bit of a Chablis. Accompanied our risotto perfectly! — 4 years ago

Mild smooth and dry — 7 years ago
Clear, medium ruby to garnet in color; on the nose, it's clean with pronounced intensity primary and secondary aromas of black cherries, cassis, and graphite; on the palate, it's dry with high acidity, high tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, and intense primary and secondary flavors of blackberries, black cardamom, and wet gravel with a medium finish. This wine is simple, but balanced. Overall, I rate this wine as good. — 4 months ago

2000 for daughters birthday decanted, wonderful immediately and grew better over time sitting in the decanter. Only one bottle left in cellar after this one. — 9 months ago
Excellent! It took very little time to breathe which was unexpected for a 2011. We will be buying more of this if we can find it. — 2 years ago
2017 Full bodied and a smooth after taste. — 5 years ago
Wow, great, nice middle taste like warm and full body. — 5 years ago
Softer than many Sancerre rouges I’ve had, but still mineral driven. A very pretty version of Sancerre Pinot. — 7 years ago

Clear, medium ruby in color; on the nose, it's clean with pronounced intensity primary and secondary aromas of black plums, graphite, and leather; on the palate, it's dry with medium acidity, medium tannins, high alcohol, medium body, and pronounced primary and secondary flavors of cherries, blueberries, and clay pots with a medium finish. This wine is complex and intense. It's a little hot for my tastes and probably needs to breath. Overall, I rate this wine as good. — 2 months ago
