Wow, it has been quite some time since I’ve had a wine so profoundly pure and energetic. Tasting this rare bottling from Thibaud Boudignon is truly a privilege - a scant 1,000 bottles crafted from ungrafted vines within Clos de la Hutte. There’s a youthful reticence here, a sense of coiled power, even after a double decant and three hours of air. Yet the aromas are captivating: flint, chalk, and lemon oil intertwine with green apple, lanolin, and a touch of mint. On the palate, the wine is almost shocking in its intensity. Viciously taut, with enamel-stripping acidity, a saline spine, and gripping dry extract. Despite its lean structure, there’s a surprising volume and density that unfolds on the palate. The finish is remarkably long, staining the sides of the palate with a chalky salinity that seems to resonate endlessly. For me, this wine perfectly fulfils its intent - an unadorned expression of terroir, delivering minerality and purity without artifice. Absolutely my kind of wine. — 2 years ago

Expression of Malbec "on the fruit" Glu-glu wine. Friendly and approachable. All the characteristics of the grape varieties are expressed here without artifice with a nice know-how. A sort of Beaujolais in darker and more condensed! "Nature" spirit attested by a light sparkling mouth when opening, testifying to a very low sulphite intake. To drink with simple meals, charcuterie boards / mezze cheese, antipasti. Treat!
L’expression parfaite du Malbec « on the fruit » gourmand. — 6 years ago

Delicious wine from the canary islands! Acidic, funky, interesting, I swear I can taste the sea air. Bought in the Hobart book village, had with shrimp scampi and clams. — 4 years ago
a concentrate of Gamay. simple, upright, frank, with a good intensity, fairly typical of this variety. if you like fruity wines, unstructured but with a nice intensity on the fruit, then you will enjoy this nectar without artifice. a true wine, which smells of know-how and authenticity; aromas of red and black fruits: strawberries, cherries, morello cherries, blackberries. a lot of freshness. — 7 years ago
Sumptuous but fresh, saline and volcanic skin contact beaut from the canaries. Probably needs a little time to soften. — 8 years ago

Raising a glass to this masterclass in Meunier.
This wine is made entirely from the Meunier grape—the workhorse behind many cuvées across the region of Champagne. Far less frequently do you see it taking center stage.
For Cédric Moussé, Meunier is a protagonist in the bottle, delivering an expression that is full of life, pleasure, and conviviality.
Cédric is a fourth generation winemaker (and twelfth generation grower) at Champagne Famille Moussé, a Grower-Producer, based in Cuisles on the right bank of the Vallée de la Marne.
He’s a champion of the Meunier grape, biodynamic and sustainable practices, harnessing solar energy to power estate and geothermal temperature control systems, with animals roaming amongst the vines, a natural (and adorable) solution to weed control.
This past summer, the estate suffered a devastating fire. Our hearts remain with them as they rebuild and restore but much was lost in the fire. It was heartwarming to see the community respond, demonstrating so much love for this family from across the globe.
It’s hard to believe this beautiful wine comes from the challenging 2021 vintage which speaks to the power of a healthy land and vine.
“Les Fortes Terres” is the name of the lieu-dit from which this wine hails, sitting above a layer of distinctive green clay soil mixed with limestone and marl, thought to give Meunier a rare, vibrant tension and saline minerality.
It aged 47 months sur lie, finally disgorged with 3 g/l dosage, embracing the vintage as it was without artifice or makeup.
In the glass is a beautiful autumnal energy with notes of crisp red apple, Anjou pear, cider, fruitcake, citrus blossom, toast, brioche, pie crust, wet stones, and oyster shell. The mousse is fine and creamy, the acidity is precise, and the finish lingers. — 6 days ago
