Hinter der Burg Federspiel Grüner Veltliner 2017

Cheesy nose (in a good way, but interesting). A bit more one dimensional than the Hirtzberger tried alongside but still very nice with great length, precision, and acid. — 12 days ago

Very dry and balanced . Hints of soft citrus and apricots. Nice acidity. Had with Wiener Schnitzel and it was a perfect compliment. — 8 months ago

Kaiserberg Smaragd Riesling 2001

Super elegant
Lots of flesh, evolution, complexity
From ripe apricot to ginger, cardamom, aniseed, tea leaves, lemongrass, cumin, various herbs and more
Very charming and reassuring sip
I love this old whites that are whispering not screaming at you
I'd say at peak though

Wachstum Bodenstein Smaragd Riesling 2014

Jaune soutenu
Nez terpénique mais avec des notes plus lourde fruit jaune
Bouche large dense opulente avec une sensation de pierre chaude
Mineralite dans la densité plus que dans le côté aérien chauffe un peu

Steinriegl Smaragd Riesling 2001

Still great,
Grilled pineapple, pear, candied ginger, nutmeg
Little coriander, sesame oil, biscuity
Super mineral and fresh too
Long flavor and fairly long life

Achleiten Smaragd Grüner Veltliner 2014

My kind of Gruner! Massive character with loads of minerals that simply excite the palate. A gorgeous, expansive wine. I see the appeal here and could drink this as often as access would allow...which, sadly, won’t allow for a lot. — 5 months ago

Loibner Loibenberg Smaragd Riesling 2001

This wine is so intense in its youth but with age has both mellowed out and developed a layered complexity and expansiveness on the palate. I’d give a slight nod to the Prager Klaus from the same year but this is among the greatest Austrian Rieslings I’ve tasted — 2 years ago
