Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The Royale Réserve Brut pours a straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of apple, lemon, raspberry, brioche, some toasted marshmallow, marzipan and limestone minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Vintage 2014 | so happy I could hold my fingers from this bottle. Now, at eleven years old it has developed a truly distinguished taste. A combination of brushwood and minerals. Very interesting comparison of grower champagnes. Vincey Marne closest to traditional, very Apple intense, a bit reductive, long on lies, complex . Beaufort very reductive, 100 pct alive, yeasty, incredible depth. The rose almost tastes like a Belgian kriek from a very good house.
