Poggio Il Castellare

Podere Poggio Scalette

Il Carbonaione Alta Valle della Greve IGT Sangiovese 2012

Sangiovese with some heft. Medium ruby color with garnet highlights. Complex aromas of bramble, cooked plums, ripe berries and vanilla cola. The lush pallet features blackberry jam, black licorice and baking spices. Nice oaky (long and lingering) finish that’s in beautiful harmony. Full bodied but with soft and silky tannins. Well constructed. — 12 days ago

Castello di Monsanto

Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna il Poggio 2015

Good Chianti, but not extraordinary. This wine is ready to drink immediately upon opening, making it a good restaurant choice. The wine did not last long: if decanted, it will lose its flavor, and I do not believe it will age any longer. Good classic Chianti flavor including leather and cherry followed by an astringent bite in the long finish. — 7 months ago

Il Poggio Teo Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2019

Dark yet fresh. Ripe black cherry, the typical dried thyme aroma, a touch of tomato leaf. Definitely on the fruitier side of Chianti yet still fresh and quite elegant. Maybe the savoury side will emerge with age.
On the palate this is impeccably balanced (and this with 14.5% alc!). Very finely polished tannins, fresh juicy acidity, and enough fruit & savoury edges to fill this frame.
This is a very, very nice Chianti Classico. The bottle empties scarily fast!
