Villaggio Rocca d'Orcia Sangiovese 2020

Lyle Fass
9.2

Nose has that classic confectionary Sangiovese fruit. Cherry flower, cherry spice, herbs and lovely earthy aromas. Great mint as well. Also some Valhrona chocolate. Palate is rich and linear with lovely freshness, acids and depth. A very clean wine and superb length. Great delineation, purity and balance. Good tannic structure for short term aging. Maybe even mid term aging. — a year ago

Guardiavigna Toscana Sangiovese Blend 2013

Needs a 30 minute decant.

DO NOT POP AND POUR.

Nose: brilliant lilacs and cherries. Psychotic with air.

Palate: perfect cherries. Cherry liquor. Length. Perfection. Omg.

Chocolate covered cherries with cherry liquor.

Wow.

Château Montviel

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

— a year ago

Terre di Talamo

Vento Forte Toscana IGT Vermentino 2019

Bright gold with coppery overtones. Unctuous nose of honey, dried apple., and clay! Palate is full and complex yielding layers of dried apple, white flowers, burnt marzipan, hay, and cinnamon bark. Acidity is firm from entry to finish. Finish is long and recalls the earthier earlier flavors. Wow. I may not think of Vermentino the same way. A complex, layered white with enough "stuff" to compliment a wide range of foods from seafood to poultry to (yes) lighter cuts of beef. Drink now through 2027. — 3 years ago
